Strength:

Good crossovers allow good soundstage.
Good handling of low bass, you can really feel it.
Tweeters very nice to listen to.

Weakness:

For the price I paid I can't think of a single weakness really, aside from how fussy the speakers are at being set up right. They really do not tolerate the gain being set too high - but if you use a 1khz test tone to set them up, you should have no problems at all.

Ignore the review that said the treble with these speakers are harsh and that the woofers can't take the punch. I suspect that he didn't set them up properly - if the gains aren't set up right they don't sound very good, I agree. But with the gains and crossovers set up properly, they are completely different and sound incredible. They do punch very hard with 80hz HPF, and don't distort at all, and are very accurate - crisp and clear - not muddy at all. The tweeters are very detailed and are "sweet" rather than "sharp" - they're easy and pleasant to listen to.

I listen to a lot of different types of music but these speakers really come into their own for heavy metal. The drums sound amazing on them, with the woofers pounding out very tight punchy bass from the kick drums and tom toms, and the tweeters doing a very good job with the hi hats and cymbals. Thats not to say that other music doesn't sound as good, I think I am mainly impressed with their ability to play metal because of the power of the music being reproduced so well. I have listened to rap, trance, house, drum & bass and they also sound very good too. Its just that metal is not easy to sound amazing, its hard to get that "pressure" feeling from the drums which makes the music feel very tight and fast.

The sound stage with these speakers can also be tweaked and although you can't get the kind of positioning you can get from home hi-fi speakers, they do an excellent job, there is a definate depth, and instruments and vocals are well placed. The crossovers allow you to enter in the position of your speakers in the door (distance from your head, distance from woofer to tweeter etc), so this is taken care of. The only thing that is needed if you want a better sound stage, is some kind of time/volume adjustments via the headunit, however its not really needed.

As a side note, the crossovers also allow + and - db settings of the tweeters, so if they are sounding too loud or quiet, you can increase their volume seperately to the woofers.

I am powering these speakers with two 60w RMS channels from a JBL 755.6 amplifier, which does a good job, but of course it could be better. I am going to try bridging the output between two channels to run them at 2z160w RMS, and when I get round to it, bi-amp them at 4x60w RMS (2 chans for tweeters, 2 for woofers) - I think this is the best option. With these settings they should sound even better, and with a better quality amp they will too (but thats not going to happen for a while :) ).
