Strength:

sounds great with Dave Matthews band, very clean mid

Weakness:

tweeter to brite, why go fooling with all the crossover crap when you can just buy a Polk momo componet(which in my opinion sound better for a variety of music.

I paid 210 for these componets. I would recomend these speaks for someone in need of really, really brite sounding speakers. For overall quality I recomend polk momos.

polk momo. I recently purchased a set of momo 6.5's and love them.

These are the best speaker I've heard in this price range. You can't go wrong with Boston. I've gone from their coax, to their Rally Series, now, I have the Pros in my setup. a 10" Pro Sub in the trunk, a pair of 6 1/2 Rally for the rear and a pair of 6.5 ProSeries in the front. These upgrades occurred as I get more money and in search for louder and cleaner sound, and the ProSeries delivers all that I need. Right now, they are being held back by my average amp, soon to be upgraded. I have one 250 Watts Mono Amp for the Sub, and a Rockford Fosgate 600a4 to drive the four separates. If u want the best for the price, you gotta go with Boston.

$450.00. Am using with a Soundstream Lil' Wonder amp (4ch). Have the 746 plate up front, and the Pro 10 behind seat (powered with Soundstream 702).
Just love the sound, though I find myself running out of volume. Am looking into another amp (MUCH more power). Have Klipsch KLF-30's in house, so when I go from house to truck, it's like damn. If you are after quality sound, then these are a MUST listen.

Strength:

I had 2 sets of pro 6.4's, and they sucked, so, after I smoked them, I got them replaced with 6.5's, hoping they would be better.....

Weakness:

no midbass, tweeters blow easily,I've seen the X's just about melt on the 6.4's overall,a total dissapointment I will never buy a Boston mid/high speaker again, too bad I cant support a local company, but thats the way it is

I'd recommend BA pro's to someone I didnt like.....

Similar Products Used:

for the money, I'd buy the RC series, which I've had, and price vs performance, they were a much better deal then the pro series, I run diamond hexs now, they are so much better then boston pro's its not even funny, no comparison whatsoever, they do everything better then my BA's, if fact, I have a set of Kicker RS6's I havent had time to install in the rear of my bronco, I just want the last set of BA pro's out of my vehicle, for what they cost, they disgust me, get Diamonds, MB Q series, anything in their price range will blow them away

Strength:

i personally like the 61/2 inch alot myself, i driving them using soundstream ref 1000sx, and i don't think that is too much, in car stereo you can never go over the limit, especially with this pair of speakers.

Weakness:

Tweeter too load, i used the crossover to step the to -6db and the tweeter is still very bright, i think i will use a different pair of tweeter, maybe a Focal.

I paid 1250 that is Hong Kong money, so covert it yourself and you will know the actual price.

Strength:

Great Imagaging
Crystal Clear Highs
High Power Handling

Weakness:

Weak midrange if you dont have enough power

I love my Pro's. For the price, they are the best speakers I have heard to date. Granted, they aren't the best speakers in the world, but when given A LOT of power and some decent tweaking, amazing results can be had. I paid CDN$500 (about US$340) and am running them off a Phoenix Gold XS 4600 bridged (they are getting over 300 watts RMS EACH!!). When fed this much power, imaging, staging and midbass/midrange come to life. Highly recommended.

Model Reviewed: 1999/Pro 6.5

Strength:

-Clean clear and very accurate sound reproduction, you can hear the little nuances of the music you're listening to.
-Love the bass that comes out of these 6inch mids, no rattle or humm just clear punch.
-They can take a lot of stinkin power without distortion!

Weakness:

-The midrange could have a little more presence but that all can be fixed with the use of an EQ or some power from and amp.
-It seems like you need at least 50 watts to even begin to hear the potential of these speakers.

Overall I can't see myself going with any other component system. I love the durability of the aluminum tweeter, and although the sound can be a bit bright it means nothing when you can tone it down using the crossover. Sound reproduction is some of the best I've heard for under $600. If I had the money for the a/d/s px series I'd buy it, but I don't have $1800 to just throw to a speaker. For the money it's the best. The imaging of this system is excellent.

Strength:

Smooth accurate sound, new aluminum dome tweeters really shine.

Weakness:

Needed EQ and DSP to smooth out the sound and improve imaging. (but that might have been my car)

Kudos to my dealer, who recommended these despite my concerns about price and the aluminum dome tweeters. I paid $350/pair plus installation.

These babies love power -- I'm driving them with an Alpine V12 amp rated at 122 watts per channel -- and you won't be happy with them unless your amp can drive at least 50 watts per channel RMS, preferably twice that.

The Pro 6.5's have very versatile mounting for the tweeter; in particular, the 45 degree angle tilt mount option was a big help in getting the imaging I was going in my 99 Ford Contour. Unfortunately, the factory door location for the midbass unit (basically firing just in front of your kneecap) doesn't make for good imaging. Thankfully the DSP in my Pioneer DEX-P1R's seems to help considerably with this problem.

The Pro 6.5s aren't harsh, but they are a bit bright, which you can compensate somewhat with the settings on the crossover and some tweaking of EQ to personal preferences. With this install, the DEX-P1R's auto-eq function removed some boominess from the midbass, providing a nice open sound.

Overall, very nice sound for in-car use, if a bit pricey.

Strength:

The detail in the highs and mids

Weakness:

I got these speakers quite a few years ago. They are great (albiet a bit expensive). I actually had infinities, and Polks (top of the line) in my car, and not just heard them in an car audio store's showroom. Infinities were o.k.; the Polk was good; however the Boston were the best. Incidently, I blew both the two first pair of speakers (had extra warranties on all of my car speakers). That tells you the qualities of the Bostons. I have them hooked up to an o.k. amp (blew two of them too!). The only that I haven't replaced were my Bostons (two pairs; one in front and one in the rear). The Bostons are hooked up two a DSP by JVC (The best DSP at the time). Overall? Great!
