Model Reviewed: CD-T HD62DT

Strength:

Good price/Quality ratio. Detailed,clear.

Weakness:

Lack of bass

What can I say... great sounding speakers! Very accurate, smooth, clear. But they prefere a high power rated amp,at least 2x75W.They will sound more precise. I powered them with a Becker Energy 400. A Limited Edition rated 4x100W playing active on my Pioneer DEX-P9 and DEQ-P9. Awesome how the CD-T's sound! A very good amp make's a huge difference. They can handle Mmmore power(but I just LOVE my Beckers). It will bring the CD-T's come to life.I also heart them on a Audison VRX, WOW! I even build a home speaker with them.Just for testing in a simple sealed enclosure of 12 liter ,hooked on a Pathos TT,tube amp.I could not believe what I heard. Maria Carey was standing in my room!!In the car they are easy to install for a great sound but damping your doors and a proper tweeter mounting is a must(as with any speaker) for SQ compitition sound.I had a lot of fun with the CD-T's HD-62DT's.Now it's time for something else.Got money to spend. I have listened to the CD-T Eurosports.Never knew a caraudio speaker can sound so good!Pricy, but well worth the money.More detail, better mids,BIGger X-over(well,don't need them).I want to check out those Diamond HEX and do the Pepsi test.I want to create a 3-way set with 2 6.5" kickbass,4" mid and tweet, hooked on a 2nd Becker Energy 400. I wonder....?!!...(Heaven)

Strength:

Forgiving of placement and angle. Very natural sounding tweeter and midbass. Excellent customer service from manufacturer. Crossovers are 60db sloped with -3db/0db/+3db tweeter option. Handle clean power very well.

Weakness:

Tweeter is fairly large at 1". Midbass not as punchy as I like. (That is what a sub is for though) Fairly expensive. Almost impossible to find a brick and mortar local dealer to audition them.

Fantastically neutral/natural sound. Reproduces music exactly as it was recorded. They are very forgiving of speaker placement and angling. The sound stage is very high in my factory speaker locations. The larger 1" tweeter is good for smoother transitions from highs to midbass. The 1" tweeter will also handle more power easily. My midbass are mounted to a thick MDF rings and the doors have been deadened with Dynamat Extreme. This made a huge difference in the speakers ability to deliver loud lower frequencies without the annoying rattle I got in my previous car install with these. I am powering them now with 70watts/channel. The sound pretty good, but I ran one of them off my amp in bridged mode and the bass opened up and the detail increased 2-3 fold. I am purchasing another of the same amp, Arc Audio 2050, to run each side off of it's own bridged amp. The total available power will be around 240 watts/channel. This is way too much for these speakers, but I will gain them back to about 180 watts/channel RMS per side and be careful with utilizing that much power. These speakers are rated at 130 watts RMS. They really open up with lots of power.
