Strength:

Fantastic midbass, impressive power handling, flexible crossovers, always clean sound.

Weakness:

Tweeters a bit strong on vocals, brown isn't the best looking color.

The Cerwin-Vega IT-6.02 component set was designed to provide LOUD and CLEAN sound, with 100 watts of continuous power handling. The midwoofer cones are a Woven Crystal-Fiber-Laminated Nomex Honeycomb composite (try to say that 3 times fast) and they are thick and very light. The cones are kind of a sandwich with honeycombs between the laminates. It results in a rather bland brown color, but they still look reasonably cool. The tweeters are a 1" titanium design, and are nice and beefy. The crossovers are very flexible, you can adjust tweeter contour, tweeter boost and midrange contour. Very clever for tuning to the acoustics of your car and for personal taste. The mounting depth for the mid woofer is shallow enough to be mounted in the doors of cars where space is a problem. So how do they sound? Pretty darn good. Running off my reference amplifier that provides at least 50 watts of clean power per side, with the speakers in kick panels, first thing I noticed was that I had to turn up my subwoofer amp to keep up with the midbass!! The midbass is very clean, and punchy, but does not get in the way of vocals in any way. In well sealed enclosures, they will take pretty much anything you can throw at them, and you can set your crossover pretty low (mines running full range with no problems!) amazing how they can handle so much power from such a small package. The tweeters can be a bit strong with vocals, the "S" sound is a bit much but if you run instrumental music (Burning for Buddy; a Buddy rich tribute is a good one) these speakers sound fantastic and never fail to sound very clean. The Cerwin-Vega IT-6.02 component set is a great choice if you are looking to compete in SQ competitions, they're great for everyday listening too, if you have the money (IT is also Cerwin-Vega's most expensive line, I strongly recommend the IT-12.0 subs too!!) I give them a 4/5. Would have been 5 if they weren't brown and the tweeters were toned down a bit.
