Strength:

- beautiful sounding speakers, you get what u pay for.
- even located on lowside of doors, off axis, they sound great, especially the staging and imagery.
- they do need power and plenty of it.
- midbass is impressive when pushed.

Weakness:

none whatso ever, i'm sorry that i didn't discover them sooner (system 240) as i was searching in the wrong place buying cheaper brands.

if you are into "quality" and not "quantity" then these splits are for you!!!!! there are "louder" speakers on the market, about 100watts rms is what's required to make them dance with the music. i am running an audison amp (2*100) thru them and they sound sweet, and more importantly they seem to be producing the music effortlessly.
also they spare parts they, dynaudio, supply with the speakers, such as installation hardware, wiring, etc., is very impressive.
these speakers, in car audio sense, are not well known enough at this stage but they are gaining recognition.

Similar Products Used:

pioneer, kenwood, mb quarts, alpine, nothing comes close.
when mentioning dynaudio in conversation to audiophiles, people in the know, their tone of voice seem to change with enthusiasum, interest.

Strength:

Smmooothhh high frequencies from the tweeters, accurate mids, fantastic design and construction!!!

Weakness:

Nothing.

I paid 700 bucks for the Dynaudio System 220 Mk. II, and find these speakers to be well integrated with one another. The sound is neutral, dynamic, and quite simply approaches some high end home speakers. The company's home speakers are reknown, and other high end makers actually utilize Dynaudio speakers for their products. But, the most important aspects of these speakers are their sound. Smooth, detailed, accurate. The construction is fanatical, I don't think there exists another speaker set that has the engineering, construction, and sound of these.

Associated Equipment:

McIntosh 4x100 amplifier
Precision Power Pro 8, 8" subwoofer (in .33 cubic ft. ported enclosure)
Nakamichi Amp/Tuner, 5 CD changer, outboard dual 20-bit D/A converter
Streetwires wiring
Monster XLN/401 interconnects

Note: I am shopping for a better sub to replace the PPI, and will soon look at JL, and the Dynaudio MW-180.

Similar Products Used:

MB Quart. Dynaudio surpasses MB with neutrality, dynamics, and especially SMOOTHNESS.

Strength:

The best car audio speakers I have come across. I tried everything and settled upon the Dynaudios. If you don't have room for a sub then if you can squeeze in the 7" unit you'll be happy with the bottom end. Most neutral speaker I have come across.

Weakness:

Can be a pain to fit at its a 175mm OD instead of the usual 165mm. Also has a large backside!

As has already been said, you need a good headunit and amplification. In my case Genesis amps, Kenwood headunit and PG eqs'.

Strength:

This review is for the Dynaudio System 360 (8" mid-woofer, 3" mid, 1" tweeter). These speakers are the most neutral speakers I have ever heard in a car. They don't add ANYTHING at all to your music. They just play what the head unit and amplifier tell them to. Just awesome!!

Weakness:

Difficult installation. They won't impress your bass head friends. They don't sound "impressive" to the untrained ear, so a non-audiophile will tell you they sound like s**t.

I paid $1,000 for the system 360. I would only recommend them to someone that knows what music is SUPPOSED to sound like. If you don't install them with care, and don't have the high-quality equipment to run them with, and unless you're a stereo-a-holic...then don't buy these speakers. Get the MB Quarts...they'll impress your friends.

MB Quart, Boston Pro Series, Diamond Audio. The Dyns stand out above all these others for pure music reproduction.

Strength:

Beautiful sound, great imaging and transparency of sound.

Weakness:

Require excellent electronics and a very good installation. These are very placement sensitive and it takes quite a while to get them right.

I've had quite a few speaker systems in my car and I must say that these to date are the very best. Word of caution. They require very good electronics, I have eclipse front end and genesis amplification which mate very well to these speakers. Otherwise you get CICO (crap in/crap out).

Strength:

It alright after you have listened to a/d/s components or with a good mid with scanspeak tweeters or usd d28mm tweeters.

Weakness:

It is not that great. Over rated.

if you have money, go for a/d/s or shred you money instead of going for dyn

Similar Products Used:

a/d/s, dyn cannot even come close

Strength:

Best mobile environment speakers ever. Unbeatable detail, accuracy and imaging, even without tricky install.

Weakness:

Does not turn out very high volume levels, as some other speakers do. Use Dynamat instead of turning up volume.

Dynaudio's are a little more difficult to install because of the wider frame, but are definitely worth it. Would like to try out ADS px, just to compare. Dyn's, in my experience, are the most sensitive speakers in terms of equipment used, i.e. amps, source units, speaker and rca wires. If your Dyn's don't sound right, most likely you used the wrong equipment. On the other hand they are not to much pain in terms of speaker placement. You still get great results with plain locations ( most of the times even stock ).

Dynaudio, no question or doubt about it. They are the BEST component seperates money can buy. Some good runner ups would be Focal Utopia which is there new top of the line, supposely to compete against DynAudio. And Mb Quarts Q Series.

These mobile speakers are exquistie to the ears, let us consider though, to pay the amount of money for Dynaudio, i suggest to go hear the Top line Focal which is 100 less and it sounds just as good. Or the Mb Quart Q Series or the Horn comp by Image Dynamics.

These speakers are indeed in the top 5 in my opinion for mobile speakers. I have used these speakers for 2 years now and have no complaints. But i did run upon a pair of MB Quart Q Series that was installed into my friends car. He has the same exact equipment as mine besides the speakers and cables/wires. The Q Series seemed little more detailed in sound characteristics than my Dynaudios. They are both in the same price range and if the store carried the Q's back then, i would of bought the Q series over the Dynaudios. But im totally satisfied with my Dyn's. And if there is a store that carries both, listen for yourself in a smiliar install.
