Strength:

S.Q. - detailed `live'' reproduction. Rugged - can extend an impressively accurate low-end, mid- and upper-bass response without sounding like they''re crying for help from system tweaking. Efficiency - quite freakin'' loud!

Weakness:

While they are 4.5 years old (they''ve seen too much that''s normally reserved for sub output), the only particular remotely worth mentioning is that initial break-in of the set for the tweet.''s sake - then did they fall into line with the rest ot the drivers and made for a great system over the last 4+ years.

I chose these 3-way Eclipses back in about ''97. Not only have I been astounded by their sensitivity (96db - as of 1997) but their stereo imaging, tight mid to upper bass (and, for a test,) bass extension to LOW freq.''s have really placed this `full-range'' pair quite far and in front of the pack. I do agree that a break-in period is beneficial, especially for the tweets. My tastes being broad, the Eclipse 6x9''s never let me down when going from rap/hip-hop to even classical/live recordings. The cones never `broke up'' with Van Halen''s `Balance'' album drum solo; could reproduce the live nuances of Peter Gabriel''s `Biko'', `San Jacinto'' and Sade''s live material among many others... What''s even more rewarding is that I could go from listening to Beethoven to bumpin'' good ol Snoop, Biggy, or, tunes on the radio and still keep the same smile of satisfaction on my face. - A sub is still highly recommended for the bass-heavy if you don''t want to wear out those 6x9''s woofs prematurely. Though hard to contemplate (I never used a sub), they will serve anyone far better when they are allowed to be driven harder with everything except the lower-end (~80Hz on down). Conclusion ---- I''ve had mine for about 5 years now and they''ve given me back alot over those 5. I''m headin'' in to buy a new pair of these (3-ways, NOT point-source) 6x9''s by Eclipse for my new vehicle. Nothing beats this s.q. and overall dynamic handling in this or much higher price ranges.

Strength:

Nice detail high (after break in period), laid back midrange, and strong bass.

Weakness:

A little more expensive than competitor's speakers.

Bought these along with the 8263 to replace the good for nothing OEM speakers. At first the high does sound a little agressive, but after breaking them in, they smooth out quite a bit and become very detail without the roughness. Nice laid back mids and strong bass as stated in in strong point. Also, these speakers have very high sensitivity (96db) so you don't need a high power amp to drive it.

Strength:

Great highs, good imaging even from rear deck, crisp sound for low price.

Weakness:

highs are just a little sharp for my taste

I paid 120 for these. I think they are great speakers. I didn't want to believe that I could get eclipse quality for this cheap, but listening made me a believer, and now they're in my car. I run them off a clarion amp and combined with my head they take about 110 watts. I shopped around for more expensive 6x9s to compliment my polykevlar Focals, but I ended up here because eclipse does it right. They sound great, although I had to turn the crossover down a little to take the high highs away because they get pretty piercing. So much for loss of imaging from the rear deck. I'd suggest these to anyone. Cheap great sound, period.

Strength:

Clear clean sound with plenty of bass

Weakness:

None for now

I got these babies on sale (40% off) for $80. At this price the value is outstanding. I am very satisfied with the warm sound that these speakers produce. I'd prefer them over the JBL and BA. Certainly recommended. Buy them even if they're not on sale. You should be able to get them at $130.

Strength:

Strong highs and extreamly low bass extention for a 6X9.

Weakness:

Could have more midrange.

I bought these speakers brand new about a year ago for $169.95 from Wurlitzer Stereo in Marlboro. I have run these speakers of my Premier DEH-P600 and they slam, then off a 50X2 kenwood amp and they slammed even harder then off a 100X2 ESX and they Cranked. (all with a HPF of 50Hz) I would recommend these speakers to anyone looking for hi-fi sound and great bass for a very reasonable price.

Similar Products Used:

It plays louder and cleaner than most other 6X9's I've heard. And the only other's that play more bass is the JL's but for an added $70.

Strength:

An auto stereo instalation/dealer- highly recommended Eclipse{Fujitsu ten}stereos and speaker models 8393-6x9-3-way&8233-3 1/2" coaxial for a factory upgrade on my 94 chevy
cavalier. I'm a satisfied customer who is planning on spending some traveling time in my car-listening to
musical notes that I only thought my home stereo could reproduce.

Weakness:

Their is nothing I dont like about the factory upgrade that
I paid for.

Custom made automobiles are an expensive hobby-
I strongly recommend installing a clifford alarm first to
protect your investment.
I paid $399 for a kenwood/7011/ with high tech security codes. $200 for speaker instalation-
alpine amp/crossover plus wiring and trunk instalation was $500.

I owned a 91 model Jbl-casette stereo that does not seem to have any better fm tuner in the mountains that surround me than my kenwood 7011. but that's why I bought a cd player for when I'm in bigfoot country where direct fm reception can not be received by any model.
