Model Reviewed: JBL Decade DS65

Strength:

The titanium composite tweeters.

Weakness:

Foam Surround. Mids don't hit as hard as some other brands of speakers.

These speakers were replaced in my '89 Nissan Pulsar before I bought the car, but I can say that they sound great for their price.

Similar Products Used:

Kenwood 6.5" speakers (dunno model number). The highs sound better with the JBL's, but the mids hit higher with the Kenwoods. They were both $60 speakers when brand new.

Strength:

Titanium tweeters give clarity and the paper cones are far more sensitive than poly ones. The sound is excellent for the price you pay. The highs are very bright and bass is deep and solid.

Weakness:

Like many multi-element speakers they lack midrange. Though the sound is bright and clear, these speakers don't have a warm sound usually associated with components or horns. Midrange is essential to produce natural sounds such as vocals.

The JBL Decade Series is a great buy.

Strength:

good mids and bright highs

Weakness:

need near rms (50W) power to truely appreciate.

I bought 2 pair of these to replace my factory speakers. I have them running off of a kenwood (516S, 27W X 4 RMS, 47W Peak) reciver but they sound under powered. I hear distortion when I turn the volume up, but i'm sure this is coming from my deck, not the speakers. the mids are well defined with vocals coming in clear and loud, the highs are spectacular. the base is good for 6 1/2" speakers, but don't expect much. Get a subwoofer to reproduce the low notes. An excellent choice to replace your factory speakers.

Strength:

nice upgrade from factory sppeakers. titanium composite tweeters

Weakness:

they do not have rubber surounds

these are jbl decade series speakers, they are great if you want to replace the ones that came with your car. you will notice a huge difference. they have titanium composite tweeters and a treated pulp woofer with foam surrounds. they fit easily in my girl friends 87 acura integra. these are some of the best speakers you can get for 60.00 or less. i would highly recommend them.

they sounded much better than other speakers in the smae price range
