Strength:

Makes a graet deck sound graet!

Weakness:

Makes a bad deck sound ugly!

I have enjoyed my KFC-1686 3-way speakers for 2yr, and I have found nothing better in its class. Sure component speakers are better so one can individually channel the an amp, but if you want sound from a quality deck and amp; this is the way to go. Most installs of component speakers try to group all three speakers to gather well this is better on a low budget. I get excellent non-distorted sound in every range.

Strength:

sound ok at low volumes just running off 22watts deck power.

Weakness:

bass colors midrange and the highs aren't that great

These speakers are decent for the average person who wants better than stock speakers. At normal listening levels they sound ok. But when you try to turn them up they sound terrible. The s's in lyrics hiss and the bass really colors the midrange. Sometimes so bad that I would just have to skip to the next song. That was with the EQ on flat and at all volumes that problem occured. They say they hit down to 30htz but I think not. They distort like hell with the volume not even up that high and the bass turned down. I then put around 50 amplifier watts into them. The sound quality improved but it was still nothing t talk about because the tweeters on these speakers are not that good. The bass response was a little better but still nothing compared to other slightly more expensive 6.5" speakers. I then later upgraged to the boston acoustics RX67's. What a difference. Boston acoustics makes a good speaker. You can also read my review on the bostons. All in all the kenwoods aren't terrible but they are far from good and miles away from excellent
