Strength:

None whatsoever.

Weakness:

If you take in consideration all the hype Kenwood has
done in advertising this speaker, you would think it might
be special. The bass is lacking, and the midrange is so
flat. The highs are so bright that distinguishing instruments are difficult.

I simply hate Kenwood speakers since I purchased this set.

I still like their AMPS.

Strength:

good sound

Got this as a Christmas gift and it has erased my doubts. I wanted to choose my own high end speakers but, hey, my mom gave these to me so... I have them on the rear of my Civic coupe, powered by a Blaupunkt Florida CD player deck, no amp, factory speakers on the door. The sound is full and heavy with enough bass to make my future interests in a subwoofer optional. Well produced CDs sound crisp. I listen to jazz, fusion, metal, and rock and this works well to highlight some subtle sounds. I suspect that the sound quality depends largely on the amplifier (in this case my Blaupunkt deck). But I also suspect that a pair of good door speakers will vastly improve the sound 100 fold, as these Kenwoods work the entire range of the spectrum especially the mid/lows. I need something to highlight the highs and subtle sounds. And with amps and subs, the volume and power would increase. This is good for those who are not too demanding on their sound/volume but appreciate adequate quality and value.
