Strength:

Great Highs

Weakness:

Bass response @ 50Hz and Below

Excellent Highs, Decent bass, but still can't compare to the component system they make. Decent power handling.

Strength:

Fantastic Sound!! Which is why you buy speakers...but....

Weakness:

Workmanship/overall quality (BIG surprise here!), utilizes that cheapola grill tar stuff, non-responsive customer service

When shopping around, was set to buy Eclipse (liked the angled tweets & clean sound)then heard the Naks. I was already running a Nak head unit. Figured that the great audiophile company Nakamichi would produce well-matched speakers for auto audio. They sound great (Allow me to emphasize - GREAT). Bought and paid $80. HOWEVER, they can not withstand the rigors of the auto-environ. I personally hate the grill glue stuff - melts in heat, in my opinion, does not work on the doors. Wire to Tweeters disconnected once, and now both speakers are off and on once again...

My calls to customer service (long distance toll call) are fruitless. You usually can only leave messages, and await a return call. I expected much more from Nakamichi. They must have gone downhill fast in the past decade...Were they bought out, perhaps?

Too bad.

Great sound...will NEVER buy again. 4 stars for value - for the price they sound fabulous - no complaints. overall - 2 stars - obvious why (Who would have thought that Nakamichi made disposable speakers?)

Strength:

very clear and precise highs. when mated with the Nakamichi head unit (with midrange adjustment), the midrange is very precise...almost better than my home system.

Weakness:

weak lows. The midrange and low-end bass compete for presence. with the crossover and sub, I should be able to eliminate this problem.

impressive sound quality when mated with a Nakamichi CD-35z head unit. I just purchased an Alpine SBS-254F 10" subwoofer with 5-ch 220W amp and variable crossover. when I install it (soon), the sound reproduction should be complete and unmatched.

all components were purchased from ubid.com...I saved major bucks!

Similar Products Used:

JBL GT-series speakers. Nakamichis are clearer and more precise, though do not produce the same low-end. It should not matter though, now that I have the 10" Alpine sub. However, the JBL's are great speakers themselves and if they weren't 6x9's, I would have used them in my current setup (5.25 all around).
