Strength:

clear high freq. sounds

Weakness:

weak bass, distortion... sounds like a mallet hitting cardboard.

Emp discounted retail for $49. Reg.. $95. Can find much better speakers for less money. I had some cheap after market speakers in their and I bought 3-ways thinking that it would improve sound quality.. but instead i was treated to almost no bass and distorted sound. The high frequency (treble) is very clear. If only the low sounded as good

Strength:

Good sound with a stock head unit.

Weakness:

Tiny hole in midrange makes it look defective. Also the cloth surround is very cheap!

These are nice sounding speakers. But if you want to see a better built set put a pioneer ts-a6969 in your hand next to the 6959, There's a BIG difference. The 6969's are much better built, stronger materials, thicker magnets. If you are going to put an amp to them get the higher model. Overall the look and feel cheap to me.

Strength:

great mids, nice highs, overall sound quality

Weakness:

i agree that the bass is a bit weak, but with a sub they sound fine.

for the money these speakers are great. i think they could compete with higher priced ones. pioneer has really never let me down. i have boston 2 ways up front, adn the highs were a bit harsh. the nice smooth sound from the 3 ways really helped it out. warm mids and clear highs. im sure an amp would help with the bass, but like i mentioned earlier, with a good sub this isnt a problem.

Strength:

very detailed mids and highs, nice looking if you plan on mounting them where people can see them, good price

Weakness:

weak bass response, very quick to distort when you go just a little over the recommended power rating, that cloth surround on the woofer feels pretty weak

I paid about 90 bucks for them which is pretty good considering you can drop around 200 bucks on a similar pair that sound the same, I would recommend them for someone who wants good mids and highs, I would also recommend putting bass blockers on them if you have a sub due to the lack of bass, overall good speakers for the price

Strength:

These speakers rock. the highs and mids are clear and bass is all good as long as u got an amp.

Weakness:

nothing except u need an amp get the bass from these speakers (not saying they didn't sound good without it)

I got these used from a friend so I dunno how much are these new. These speakers made a dramatic difference in my sound system. I run these speakers with a Blaupunkt headunit, JBL component fronts and a Pioneer Premier amp. They work together fine. I would recommend these simply because it's better than stock. I got the best bang for the buck deal because these were free from a friend. How 'bout that old subwoofer of yours my friend??

Strength:

excellent bass response, very good detail on highs and lows. excellent speaker for the money . (just make sure you drive it with a decent amp .. i suspect the guy who gave it 1 star had a crappy all-around system set up)

Weakness:

at this price - none really

I think these are EXCELLENT for the money. I have a Pioneer Premier P400 and an Alpine MRV-F303 to power them. These speakers make some people ask me if i have a sub :)
I think they are very underrated and would recommend these to anyone.

Strength:

A pretty good speaker overall. Very clear highs, and decent lows. I have mine running on an external Rockford amp with an EQ hooked up and it sounds good.

Weakness:

It's hard to balance these with smaller speakers that are typically mounted in the front of most cars.

If you're looking for a good replacement for a factory speaker, this is the way to go. If you want the best, this is not the way to go. For the price I paid (95 from Best Buy as an open item) I couldn't beat the perforamnce.

I had a set of Pioneers before this that were just crap, but I liked these much better. I also tried a set of JVC's which were eh....and a set of Cerwin Vega's which I like quite a bit but weren't worth the money.
