Strength:

Great aluminum frame Alpine Quality Hits the lows great (ported box, tuned @ 40 hz) Price isn''t bad either (I paid about 550 canadian for them.

Weakness:

People are going to want to steal ''em Other than that, none. THey handle the power great

I have 2 12" Alpine SWR-1221D''s set up in a PORTED (yes ported) enclosure. All I have to say is they POUND. They are running off of about 600 - 630 watts RMS and boy, they have impressed me. Don''t listen to anyone, given the right ported enclosure, these puppies will rock you. Hits the lows with great emphasis!

Strength:

power, looks, strength, good brand name to back them up.

Weakness:

none so far that Ive seen, power hogs maybe, but thats it.

This sub is a great quality sub. My mom got it for me for christmas. I just recently hooked it up to a brand new kicker zr240 and its feeding it about 365 watts. I plan to be getting another for my birthday which wiil then boost amp power to around 420 watts:P I dont agree with other people when they say alpine has alittle problems with dealing with really really low notes, yes the S series does, but i havent played a bass cd yet that was too low for my "R". So far I can only say good things. Just the "one" I got now is louder then my 2 kicker comps I used to have(with all do respect to my beloved comps)i had to sell them:( I make all the hicks around here that think they something about car stereo jealous and I love that feeling(Dickheads). My friends that I''ve helped hook up there stereos get mad at me too cause mines better than theirs. I recommend this beast to anyone who doesnt get nauseated easily and loves bass like i do. Im a bass freak so I must demand one of the best! Enjoy guys and gals!

the only others Ive used is Kicker, the solo baric is up to par with these subs. As far as power and sound go.

Strength:

Loud. Clear (except for the car rattles kinda mix bad with it)

Weakness:

EXTREME lows don''t quite hit that well. VERY low that is. Only 2 songs that it has a problem with.

Well as these take around 1000 watts each and im only givin 120 to each; I can''t comment much on the quality of them at full power (but I do know they hit pretty hard as when I tried them out at Innovative) but even pushin 1/10th the power, the HIT like no other. They are in a custom ported box in my Saturn 93 SL1 (yea yea shutup.) Everything has come loose in the car, from the hood to the whole gearbox and steering wheel vibrating like mad. There is about a halfmile radius in which people can hear me. And this is only at 120watts each. So I believe people will be crying for me to turn it down once I get some real power to them. I got them for 220 for both (effectivly 110 each.) Expect to pay around 220 a piece.

Quality, Deep Bass, Breaks my 2 Dr z71 Tahoe Apart. Its great

Weakness:

Hell no, not one

Ive gone through many subs and installed many on other vehicles, by far these are the best.. CRANK it all the way, Makes you wana puke, unless its your own subs your too happy to think about puking. I have 2 - 1240s on the Alpine V-12 1507 Amp. They are bridged which run at 4 ohms, but once I buy another set, I will push 4 R-Types at 2 ohms. Its going to be cleanest sound ever.

Similar Products Used:

Ive had Inf Perfects 10.1's even though they are 10s... the price difference is insane, and these R-Types are best subs ive heard, even eclipse titaniums, best sub supposedly on market dont hit as low as these R-Types

Strength:

Look sweet
55mm of excursion (they can move!!)
Love power
Super tight bass in a sealed box (even thought it's too big)
Fat, indestructable rubber surround
Crank out deep bass no problem

Weakness:

Can't think of any...

One of the few pieces of stereo equipment that has not disappointed me. I have over 300 watts Rms running into these babies and they love it and sound great. Hip hop to Metallica to Steppenwolf, it all sounds super sweet. Just make sure you run enough power to these subs. They'll still sound good when under powered, but with more power they start moving 5 cm,and you'll cream your pants. With the 340 watts each and 1.3 cubic foot spaces they are in (which is too big), and in a Pathfinder, the two of them hit 144.3 Decibles measured at the front dash. Imagine how this would be in a little civic!! Some poor bastards with subs worth four times more in price got put to shame that day. Don't hesitate to try these out!!

Puts all other products of similar price range to complete shame.

not too expensive

Weakness:

I have 2 SWR-1240's in a medium sized sealed box. They are being run by an MTX blue thunder pro1502 amp, which pushes out 425 x 2 RMS. So far I've made 3 people puke, and set off 8 car alarms in one day. I can't wait to sell these and buy 2 SWR-15's! If you have an offer for my system gimme an email.

4 ever alpine

Strength:

lots of excursion looks cool lots of power handling big magnets

Weakness:

no good for a truck because they are too deep (magnet sticks out too far) and my ears were ringing after about 5-10 seconds

a friend had two of these running off an 700-800 watt amp and he hit 143.7 on the dash now he has an alpine 1507 (1500 watts) running them and it is now hitting 149.8 i would have to say $250 is well worth it

Similar Products Used:

from what ive heard only thing that has come close to 2 of these would be a car i heard with 2 jl 12" and 2 pioneer 12" but then again if you want 125 watt power handling go buy jensen or pyramid
