Strength:

Best sounding 500 watt SVC woofer out there.

Weakness:

SVC

These speakers kick ass for being 4-ohm single voice coil woofers. I have 2 in a bandpass box and it hits so hard I can barly even stand it. They hit way harder than JL Audio would ever imagine.

Strength:

It's got a metal basket.

Weakness:

Cheap materials, 2nd rate construction.

This speaker drools. Other reviewers fail to mention what type, or how much power was used. I tested this speaker in the same box (in a .8 Cubic foot sealed box) and with the same amp as two other speakers, JL's 12w0-4 and MTX's 12 inch 5000-4 on an MTX BlueThunder pro 502. Well, of course the JL is fabulous. Deep bass, extreme volume, and exceptional responce. The MTX also had deep bass but the volume was lacking and the responce could have been better. As for the Audiobahn, BLAH! It sounded like a wet fish being slapped on the pavement. I thought that maybe if you had an amp that you could weld with it might sound better, so I broke down my personal system and put one of my PPI PC1800's on the sub. 400 watts of extreme, pure power. More than enough to blow my JL through my trunk, or to melt my MTX into a pile of black goop, and that's what it took to make the Audiobahn behave like a real subwoofer. I admit, under power from a $750 amp, this speaker is OK, but not great. The stylish, fat surround streches in an uncomfortable pattern, I think it will rip apart under heavy use. For the amount of power it takes to drive this speaker versus the sound quality, you'd be better off getting a slightly more expensive speaker and a good amp.

Audiobahn 120S - $115
JL12w0-4 - $115
MTX 5000 series is off the market, $99 a year ago.
MTX Blue Thunder Pro 502 - $75 (open box at Circuit City)
PPI PC1800.2 - $750
Generic sealed box, .8 Cubic feet - $20 at a local flea market

JL 12w0-4, MTX 12" 5000-4 - No comparison. The volume wasn't even similar to the MTX 5000 and sound quality was absolutely lacking, like slapping a wet fish on the sidewalk.
