Model Reviewed: 2001 EL 104 10" driver

Strength:

1. Effient: the design of the enclosure is made so that you don't need a massive amp. 2. Compact and extremely durable

Weakness:

1. The enclosure is made of plastic, wood has better acoustic qualities.

I purchased the EL series bazooka for $80 used on an online ad. I chose this type of sub enclosure because I need room in my trunk for my guitar. When I hooked the sub to a 100 watt kenwood amp I was surprised at how clean and deep it sounded. It's not frame-cracking bass, but it hits hard. I recommend this sub not only for those who need cargo room, but for anyone who wants clean, reliable bass added to their vehicle.

Strength:

Very efficient, fits in my regular cab ford ranger, good sound quality

Weakness:

None that I know of. My personal problem that I have is: the tube is mounted behind the driver seat. The driver fires into the driver side rear cab corner. The passenger gets good quality deep bass. The driver(me)get the thump but the bass isn't as loud. When the passenger side window is down or the door is open, the bass output doubles. I suggest mounting the tube behind the passenger seat, firing into the passenger side rear cab corner. This corner loading method gives the driver the best bass response and then when you roll down the driver side window, the bass will increase. Much better.

I got the sub for 80 bucks because it was a display model at Buds Car Stereo in Danville, IL. It has performed flawlessly for over 4 years now. I plan on replacing the driver with one of Bazookas RS series DVC drivers so I can feed it a bigger amp and get even more SPL. I would recommend one to anybody. THe efficiency cannot be beat. Even with relatively small amps, you can get decent sub bass.

Raw woofers in boxes--If i had more room I would go this route. Bazooka compares well though.
