Over a year ago I purchased 2xJBL lc1250 for £199 ($160) inc. sealed enclosures. I am impressed with the build qulaity and general all round performance of these subs. I am not using the best of amps, a Jenson 2 Channel 500w Max and All though they don''t seem to drop too well on the low stuff they certinaly kick on the mid. I think you need two of these to make your car rock but for the price it is great value.... One of the better JBL subs.

Strength:

Require little power from an amp. Hit hard.

Weakness:

Not hard enough but they are cheap!

For the price I paid for these Subs they work quite well. They are a good all around rolling base for a real cheap price.

JBL Loud + Distorted doesn''t know what strength is.

Weakness:

I can''t belive I wasted my time giving the acknowledgment of ever owning these speakers on this review.

These Loud + Clear 12"s are by far the absolute worst subs I''ve ever owned. They can''t handle any power at all. I bridged a Jensen 600 (75x4) amp for 200rms x 2 channels and blew them within 2 weeks. Trust me if Jensen can blow a sub up, you don''t need it. Save money and use your 8" house speakers. They''ll probably handle more and last forever compared to these subs. If you want the JBL''s to pound, make a fist and punch them as hard as you can in the cone.

Can''t find anything that sucked as much as these....Run out and smack a JBL dealer in the face.

Weakness:

Power Handling, Volume

Highly recommended if you're on a budget.
Got lots of money? Go for an Infinity 12.1 or Alpine SWR-1240D.
Need to conserve space? This could do it if you do not want to break the bank, but a Polk DX would be more your style.
Want to impress your friends? Spend your money on something else, like a woman.

JBL Loud + Clears are MORE than enough to satisfy the average stereo enthusiast. If you power them properly and place them in the proper enclosure (I had a single chamber 2.5 cu. ft. enclosure with 4" ports @ 10" long) they are smooth and pretty damn loud for the price I paid. The quality was the most impressive part though. They are transparent, but lack the emphasis on extremely low-regions (such as pipe organs, etc). Average as far as enclosure requirements go, I got more output in the ported enclosure than in the sealed. Running off of HALF the power I had going to my Vega 12's (the Vega series, I had ~270 Watts RMS running) they put out VERY close output while sounding more pronounced and clean.

Strength:

I just won 3rd place out of 14 people in sound quality with just two 12's and 25wrms per sub out of a rockford punch 100a2. That is damn good for any system. I out pounded 3 eclipse 10's in a hatchback and I had mine in the trunk.

Weakness:

I need atleast 150+ db and I need to stay in the iasca 2 stock class. These just wont cut it. Im going for dd audio for that at 525 each.

I think these subs rule. the old grey ones suck ass though. I would have put them into a folded horn ported box and got twice as much out of them and kicked some ass, but no I had to go with a sealed. If you have a tight budget then get these subs.

rockford entry level. mtx 3000's or 4000's, kenwood high end because kenwood sucks, pioneer premere because their high end is equal to jbls low end.

Strength:

Very clear at low frequencies, good at mids. Great sub for the money invested. I have two hooked up to a BOSS 300 watt amp and they just out did my brother in laws system. By the way he has two Rockford Fosgate Punch 12"s hooked up to a RF 500a2. I honestly dont know how these subs put out as much bass as they do. My truck was parked behind my dads truck and i had my stereo up all the way, I sat down in my dads truck and BANG the bass was coming into my truck and shaking the drivers side seat of my dads truck. The hit 2 times as hard as my 3 Pioneer 10s that I put in my moms escort. Like I said I am amazed by the SPL these subs put out inside my sealed box that is behind the seat of my 1991 F150. These subs make quarters dance on top of my cab when the bass hits. Will shake a FULL soda can off the top in about 10 seconds. The guy at Circuit City tried to get me to buy some MTX subs, he said the MTX would get louder than the JBL's, If the MTX's are louder I will never find out because if I get anything louder than my JBLs I will lose my hearing. I have two friends with two Boston 12s and they even said that my system will keep up with theirs. Excellent value compared to Bostons price

Weakness:

Ears ring if you crank it up

This sub kicks the ass of subs that cost 2 times as much as they do.

Strength:

puts out a fair amount of bass but nothing outstanding. They were also faily cheap. I got them pre-loaded in a Dual Bandpass box.

Weakness:

you can hear the bass more than you can feel it but they may just be the car.

I have two 12" subs loaded in a Dual Bandpass. They are installed in the trunk of my Crown Victoria. I have an MTX Thunder302 powering my subs. They put out a descent amount of bass with the right kind of music. I'm sure they would rattle the hell out of compact car. I have had to glue down some of my moldings because of the vibration. I would like to re-load these into a vented or sealed enclosure to compare output but I'm strapped for cash so thats gonna have to wait. I would recommend this to someone who has a small to medium car and one with a fiberglass body because it sounds horrible with a manly steel sheet metal body.
