Tons of bass from a great looking speaker that is not expensive. This is the second jl 12 Ive had, I love em.

Paid 99.99 on the net. Best sub Ive ever had, the thing is so cool. Im a diehard Jl fan from the old school when you had jl, kicker or fockford to choose from. Nothin beats jl. Go get one now. heck, get three.

I love the "jack hammer" hits it produces. It also sounds great with rock too. It has great sound with the wattage supplied also.

The paper on the outide is tearing off. i'm pushing 200x2 pioneer amp which is the max wattage on these mamoth subwoofers. this maybe be why they sometimes distort.

i payed 250$ for both the subs and a large sealed box. i would recommend this as a good price. i would not pay any more for these though. mine also weren't brand new.

I switched out my box with two 10" kicker comp vrs in a ported bandpass. with my same amp these speakers did not come close to my 12" jls. my were way "boomier" and mine also hit harder. i was very suprised how much better these jls sounded.

It is fairly cheap and it has an amazing excursion capability.

The paper on the outside of the sub comes off too easily.

I paid 120 bucks for it on ebay. I would recommend it to anybody, they wouldn't be disappointed by it's performance. I have about 450 watts going through them and I haven't heard them distort once since ive had it. I have heard rockford fosgate, kicker, and many more subs and I think they're the best sounding subs I have heard.

No strengths.

The speaker produces a sound that is best described as, 'plastic'. It is not difficult to bottom out.

I was extremely disappointed with this woofer. The ONLY thing it has going for it, is that it's cheap. I used this woofer in a truck, where it was possible for me to actually hear the cone of the woofer. It sounded awful. I would have gladly paid twice as much for something that sounded better. As for what I had powering it: an Orion XTR 275 - approx. 400 watts RMS (at 13.6V). I could have easily sent the woofer to a fiery grave, even with the small sealed enclosure that I was using (I used the JL recommended airspace). Maybe it would sound better if you covered it with pillows, I don't know.

I think that even an older Kicker Competition subwoofer sounds better. The Solobaric sounds a LOT better. Boston Acoustics, Polk DB series, Orion NTs.... all sound better.

This sub is a very beefy sub, at the moment it lives in the wrong home, the box is too big and ported. I use an RF 4.6x amp bridged to power this beast and it's just not enuff!, i tried it using my friend's punch amp and this sub restyles your hair!!! use an 80Hz/lower LP x-over and this sub sounds much much better than if u use the 100Hz LP provided by Rockford. Also don't let the 200WRMS rating fool you, this sub can take about triple it's rated power handling!. But not too efficient though. So be sure you have PLENTY of POWER!

Let me tell you these speakers are great. They will blow away any other 12 that I've heard. I spent 600 on a JL 12 and a 250 watt PPI amp. It sounds better than some stereos that I've heard that they spent a few thousand on. Check them out. They ROCK!!!

they are very picky about boxes, the best thing to do is to get the box plans off of the JL website, and build your own, most boxes u buy wont sound right with them.

Great speakers, I made a box for them with the plans of the JL website(www.jlaudio.com)but i didnt cut the port hole yet, so its sealed right now. JL puts some great plans for boxes on their site, they are easy to build and sound great, these subs knock soooo hard, i have a BOSS 600 watt amp pushing two of them, 300 to each, and they beat my friends 2 cerwin- vega vega series 12's in a bandpass box, they dont distort, bottom out, or make unpleasent noises, they are some really clean sounding subs at a great price, they are discontinued now i think, so they will be hard to find, if u cant find them, i recommend the JL 12W3 2 ohm subs, they sound just as great.

Very responsive to what kind of box they're in

I have the subs in a dual sealed box with a Boss 1200 watt amp driveing them. These things are just unbelievable. My friend has 2 15" Boss subs and these just blow them away. My friends don't even like to sit in the back seat, they find it hard to talk. Way better than any thing i had before. The pioneers i had were pretty good but nothing caompared to these
