Size, value for the dollar, and response

Weakness:

nothing so far...

I picked this sub up for $199CAD (stickered at $249CAD), and since this was the floor model (but in great shape), the manager knocked $50 off. GREAT DEAL!

This sub is attached to a Sony XM-1002HX amp, which is suppling power to the sub for an ES series CD-XM650 head unit. Rear hatch speakers are 6.5" Pioneers on the lift gate, and fronts are 4x6 Pioneers in the dash. Vehicle is a 1990 Pontiac Transport SE. The system has a warranty (5 years) that will probably outlast my vehicle!

Sound is finally where I want it, being a person with a hearing handicap (complete loss of hearing in the right ear), and for the longest time music was no longer "enjoyable". The subwoofer provides a nice clean kick to that bottom end of the frequency spectrum that I have a difficult time finding a liking for these days. The Kenwood BP110 has renewed my appreciation of music once again, and made it something I now enjoy while spending hours on the road.

The sub does not get in the way of the rich highs found in the vocal range of stuff I listen to. It kicks in exactly where I expect it to, and does not thud or bottom out like other subs I've heard in my friend's vehicles. I was surprised by the fact that a single 10" sub could fill the sound space of this van with such punch, without having to have the volume up past 50%! Of course, this unit is a great choice for a first time subwoofer buyer, and the more advanced automotive audiophile will probably not want something this small in their driving quarters.

If you see one of these on a Canadian Tire (in Canada) store shelf in the Automotive section.. ask the manager nicely if he'll let you have the floor model for $199. You might be surprised by their answer. Kenwood has had a rough time getting its product out to the public this summer, and the shops are starting to feel the pain of heavy and pricey inventory loads.. Make an offer they can't refuse, you just might get it.
