Strength:
Visually, they look very unique and will get many compliments from your friends. Hit very very hard for a 12". Able to handle a great deal of power.
Weakness:
A bit expensive if you don't buy them online. Picky about box size. Other than that none. When I decided to redo my system I got a really good deal on an Orion XTR 900. I wanted something that could really handle the power, L7's were chosen after research. I am a big fan of orion, and still am. I had some XTR 12" s for years and was very pleased with them. After having the L7's for about a week, all I could say was... Orion who? these things will pound your head off. During high volumes at 50 hz, I don't want to sit in the car. Like so many people say, these subs WILL make your car rattle. Make sure that you have a good amp ( 400 of more rms each) a capacitor, and sound deaden your car well. I have 2 12's in a sealed box, both with 1.1 cu. ft. of airspace. If you want to be heard, and you want to feel bass, get L7's. If you are really crazy, get a ported box. You won't be sorry you chose kicker. Similar Products Used: Any orion subs, rockford fosgates, jl, audiobahn, none as good |

Strength:
This is the loudest sub I have ever owned hands down but if you want SQ try the greatest SQ company in the world MB Quart, thirteen world titles has to mean something.
Weakness:
No weaknesses, but the very first batch of these speakers had a factory defect on the cone of the speaker. To the first few reviews and any of you other RF fans are stupid to think that a company that won over 70% of all the USAC trophies this year. These speakers are also very specific about power ratings and enclosure sizes, I mean would you want a corvette with a V-6 under the hood. And to anyone that has blown one of these you must not be able to hear distortion because these speakers can handle well over their rated power if the power is clean. To the guy that only hit 105db you should hook up the other voice coil, make sure the wires aren't crossed, or use a worthy amplifier not a Radio Shack special. Strength:
Hits good on a real small enclosure so it does not need a lot of space.
Weakness:
the fact of having to wait for the speakers to broke in. But once they broke in they hit hard as a mother****. I only bought one because I could not affort two of them. But for my surprise one is LOUD enough. This ONE speaker blew 3 10' MTX 6000 out of the water. One speaker is good enough for me. yet I'm only giving it 300 watts instead of the 750 recomended. Best speakers I ever bought. Similar Products Used: 2 12' Rockford Fostgates XLC Kicker kills them. 2 12' Kicer competition one solobaric is better. 3 10' MTX 6000 series Kicker kills them too. |

HIT REALLY HARD
Weakness:
NEED TO HIT DEEPER..TOO MUCH SPL i got 2 of the Solobaric 12 L7's in a sealed box with .88 airspace. It sounds damn good in the cougar i got it in right now with the subs facing the seats.. it just rattles the trunk bad, i tried paying 40 bucks for some RF noise deadner spray, and it didnt make any change at all, i payed 10 bucks for 2 cans of spray foam installation and sprayed it in the cracks of my trunk and it helped a lot but it still rattles bad. but they sound awesome with my Autotek 333 Mean Machine amp goin to it giving each sub 666 watts at 2 ohm. I am getting ready to buy 2 more and put in a camaro. But overall these subs rock harder than almost any other system ive heard, some subs are louder but ive not heard any that hit harder than these. Tough surround and cone.
Weakness:
Needs lots of power, even when he hooked up 500w RMS, it still wasn't loud. I was checking out a single 10" JL Audio sub that had 200w RMS running to it. One of the salesmen at this store showed me this Kicker speaker and talked about how badass it was. He hooked it up for me and I was like, "Where's the sound? The 10" JL is louder than this!" Then he said, "Well you need more power to it." I told him that the speaker is junk then because you have to pay more money to buy a more powerful amp. How stupid! Strength:
louder than all hell and cabable of whatever kinda bass you like, if you put it in the right box
Weakness:
need to be broken in, easily blown...if your an idiot gall darn(no swearing crap) these things are good. My friend has two twelve square solos in his car, they were getting around 1/4 max power before and hitting around 140, he did end up with one defective sub, which is being replaced. Today we ran his one good sub off his new kicker dx700 amp, and I'm at least partially deaf already from subwoofer exposure, and that one sub was so loud with the amp only set up to push 600 watts that my tongue hurt. He like everyone else with these subs should do, has had special 3 to 1 vented boxes made for his subs, so they are capable of most any musical passage. I think these subs could take out just about anything if set up right. Except maybe that RFL MTX 15", or maybe MA audio synergy series. Similar Products Used: eclipse 86 series 12s in bandpass(very nice, I bought them), eclipes 88 titanium 15 (more accurate than basicly anything) all the rockfords(paper machet crap that can't hit a note) JLs (maybe its just the store set up that makes them sound like they're choking) alpine (overpriced and wimpy, but look cool) Boston (very very nice, but $$$, won't win in spl), sonys (ha), pioneer (yuck generally, the new ones aren't so bad) cerwin vega vega(they are awsome, but can't take an L7), MA audio (I dunno, maybe they can take um), MTX (hits very hard, but I not so sure), lightning audio(not bad, but not that good), jensen (better than you'd think for so little $$) |
