Strength:

Outstanding power handling capability. It takes a lot to really work this sub though. I am running it in a 1.5 cubic foot sealed enclosure and have it parallel wired to a 2 ohm load being powered by an older Kenwood KAC-923. This amp is not rated for 2 ohm loads in bridged mode but it seems to handle it although it does kick the fan on after prolonged use at high levels. This amp produces 270W RMS @ 4 ohms. That could be around 1000W Peak @ 2 ohms, and this sub eats it up. Fantastic Sub for its day. This series is discontinued so used ones are probably the only option. If you have a quality, powerful amp and you find a DC15 for a reasonable price buy it. I use one in a crew cab Silverado and it is perfect. Anymore would be too much...then again, is there such a thing?

Weakness:

Foam surround is tearing, but this sub is over ten years old, maybe 15, so that is to be expected. I have nothing bad to remark about. Any quality review/critique should discuss some point of inferiority or suggest an improvement through product comparison but I have none. That either means I am naive or this sub is that good.

My set up would probably benefit from a larger enclosure. A vented box would definitely increase SPL. This thing could handle more amp if I felt so inclined, but this set up works for me. I would not have spent the money to buy this sub new 15 years ago simply because I did not have the means. I am fortunate to have acquired it because a friend owed me $20 and had no idea what kind of sub this was and was happy to have me of his back. Fate? I don't know. Luck? It must be. At over $500 new I would have never had the pleasure of cranium fractures via Lanzar. If the money is right grab one and amp the heck out of it. You won't be disappointed.

Soundstream reference 200 bottomed out with this speaker. Just didn't hit. Used the KAC-923 on an Earthquake EQ-1265 and it was good but not comparible to the Lanzar.

Model Reviewed: 4 lanzar dc series 15"

Strength:

They deliver strong deep bass and good sound quality.

Weakness:

I tried putting my mmats d200hc on the four speakers, 1 foam surround completly came detached from the die-cast spider. I got that problem fixed by getting better surrounds for the speakers. Then I had another problem with one of the subs(the entire cone separated from face of the speaker).

If you want a system that shatters windows I recommend the lanzar dc-series subs/IF YOU WANT A SYSTEM THAT CREATES EARTHQUAKES AND CATOSTROPHIC THIRD WORLD DEVASTATION THE MMATS JUGGERNAUT WILL DO THE TRICK.
