Strength:

Low weighty punchy bass. Doesn't need a lot of power if it's a good amp. Very hard to distort.

Weakness:

Needs a good amp, no pissing up a tree when it comes to that:)

I replaced my Sony 12" with this speaker and at first it didn't sound much different but now after a couple of weeks of working this sub in, it now ROCKS! Hard hitting low end weighty bass! Kicks like a mule! I'm most impressed and you know what else? it's only 160WRMS driving it!!!! ( JBL P80.4, 4 channel amp) This speaker is built more so for SPL, leaves the Sony in the dust. My really old Rockford Punch was a good speaker as well but doesn't even get close to this one.

Model Reviewed: (2) 12-inch x-max

Strength:

clean

Weakness:

too expensive

I had these two 12's hooked up in my civic for like 2 weeks, to a mtx 500 D. The amp sucked so the subs were never really playing at their best. These subs are very clean, BUT MUST GIVE THEM 500 WATTS A PIECE, for them to hit loud, not as deep as i would have thought.

Hands down, jl-audio subs are so much better, i promise you, again e-mail me with questions -redbaron80@hotmail.com-

Strength:

This sub is hard hitting, requires very little cubic air space, it goes very low, can take lots of power (500 watts RMS), it's got a massive magnet, it's virtually impossible to distort, and is all around the most @ss kicking subwoofer I have EVER before heard!

Weakness:

Absolutely none.

This is ONE Phoenix Gold 12" X-Max in a TRUNK compared to TWO Rockford Fosgate 12" DVC subs in a HATCHBACK. The X-Max was better sounding. It went louder, it went lower, and it was overall better. Don't get me wrong though; Rockford Fosgate makes exceptional subwoofers, however the X-Max is just a little bit better. Rockford Fosgate does provide the watts that drive this X-Max, and that does play a role in how well this sounds. So if you want the perfect sounding subwoofer setup, get yourself an X-Max or two, with a Rockford Fosgate amp.....the Punch 200ix works wonderfully.

Strength:

Powerful, deep, clean, not that expensive, and great for someone who does not have big amounts of space in their trunk and wants a sound system!

Weakness:

Power Hungry

These subs really pound if you feed them huge amounts of power. I have a Rockford Fosgate Punch800a2 running it and they rattle the whole car. Setting off car alarms is not much of a problem. These subs also are very clean. People only right bad reviews on them because they feed them cheesy amps and then they sound like dog sh.. Oh Yeah, they are very high quality and highly recommended to anyone who can buy them.
