Strength:

If it really costs $30 brand new, that's amazing. Loud, clear, goes very deep, and seems to handle even distorted power fine. The magnet is a very good size, and it's heavy (which is always good for subwoofers), maybe around 5 to 10 pounds.

Overall a great subwoofer, and at it's price is nearly unbeatable.

Weakness:

I want to find another one.

I CAN'T!

This thing is RARE. I've looked and looked, and I can't find any info on this subwoofer. I can't find Rockwood's website, I can't find a place to buy these, and I'm not even sure if they still sell these.

I went to the local swap meet in search of a 12" subwoofer for cheap. And I was in luck when I found this subwoofer being sold for $3!
I put it in a very large (4 cubic foot) speaker enclosure, tuned to 29 Hz and made out of particle board (although MDF would be a better choice, particle board was in my budget).
I'm powering it with a home theater receiver and it puts out 115 decibels at 28 Hz, however, my receiver is trying harder than the Rockwood.
If I had a more powerful amplifier, say, 400 watts, it could easily push 120. Over 120 decibels below 30 Hz for a subwoofer driver under $50 is jaw-dropping to me.
I'm really enjoying this speaker, and I have room for another one, but I can't find one. Anywhere. Very, very obscure. Obscure is a GREAT word to describe this driver. So is the company. Rockwood doesn't seem to have any website whatsoever. I've looked and looked, but I can't even find one of these used.
A great product, however, it would be nice if I could find a supplier of these, or at least a very similar speaker in the same price range : ).

Similar Products Used:

I've listened to, but not owned, a Klipsch Sub-12, and this subwoofer, if given the right amount of power and a good box, will yield very similar output.
