Sony XS-L101P5 Subwoofers

Sony XS-L101P5 Subwoofers

DESCRIPTION

Sony's imaginative "pentagonal" woofer brings big bass output to your sound system. Its five-sided design controls standing waves that can detract from sound quality. Plus, the polypropylene cone is more rigid, so it can handle serious bass without losing its shape.

This sharp-looking sub features a longer, four-layer, edge-wound voice coil for improved power handling. An all-aluminum voice coil former controls distortion by dissipating heat, while the triple-layered spider provides excellent cone suspension.

The XS-L101P5 10" subwoofer handles up to 300 watts RMS, and works well in sealed or ported enclosures.

  • five-sided polypropylene cone
  • rubber surround
  • frequency response 18-2,500 Hz
  • power range 80-300 watts RMS
  • peak power handling 1100 watts
  • sensitivity 88 dB
  • top-mount depth 5-5/8"
  • sealed box volume: 0.75 cubic feet
  • ported box volume: 1.3

Model Reviewed: 10"

Strength:

NONE (Blow it up and took it back to future shop got my money back)

Weakness:

Very limited power handling. 125 watts i'd suggest

This sub works well up to about 150 watts. No distortion. But i hooked it up to 1000 watts to see if the peak power was ture and this thing sounded like TERRIBLE. You could hear the sub bottoming out. DO NOT BUY!

JL W0 the W0's can take 500 watts at 2ohm and their rated at 250 watts max 8ohm. The Sony's are rated for 4ohm 300 watts, 1100 watts peak. and the W0's blow them away.

Not very loud, not that great of SQ

This sub is OK. I wouldnt recommend it unless you are strapped for money. Otherwise you should go for a RF or Infinity of equal cost.
