Strength:

They provide a nice sound for the low price of around $80. I dont know how they would sound in a normal box, I had them stored in a band pass. They sounded good in the band pass.

Weakness:

I dont really have any complaints. Just dont buy these subs expecting a huge, god like boom. They arent insanly loud, but they hit nice.

I've had two sony 10'' xplods for almost a year. For the price you pay, you get a very nice bass sound. I ran theme off a Kenwood 600W 2-chan. They were housed in a band pass box. I've since upgraded to two 10''Alpine Type-R's and they will shake passing cars apart.

Strength:

price...sound quality...

Weakness:

Voice coil gets extremely overheated, bottoms out on lower frequencies, possible fire hazard... 250 watts RMS? Yeah, maybe it'll sound alright, but dont expect the sub to last.

They call them XPLOD for a reason--I had 2 of these running off a Kenwood KAC 929, stereo (150 watts to each at 4 ohms). I would run em bridged but I've had problems with amps overheating cuz its hot enough OUTside the trunk, anyways... They sounded good, for a while. The bass is loud, pretty precise, with low distortion. I have a Sony Xplod 52W x 4 headset and i run it at half volume with the "Loud" feature on. So, for what happened with one of the subs, there is no excuse at all. I was bumping the fight club soundtrack the other night(btw, people need to check that album out) and i heard one of the subs blow out. I got home and opened the trunk, and the sub was ON FIRE. I had to pour water all over it and inside my box to get it out. Remember that it was only getting 150 watts, the amp is on about 50% gain with a 6db bass boost, and the headset volume was at half. That, and it was about 50-60 degrees outside. Buy these subs at your own risk; they will blow out easily (this wasnt the first one to blow out...the other just smoked, didnt catch fire luckily) and although its probably very rare, they can catch fire. Very disapointing. I'm ordering some Infinty 12's that hopefully won't blow up my car.

Great power handling Low Price Good give Good SPL (for the money) Good SQ

Weakness:

well... nothing.. dont expect infinity perfects here, but these things are great for the money

I got this sub to put in my car with my Jensen XS2 10". Well, I never realized exactly HOW bad my Jensen sucked! These subs really rock the place for the small price tag. My buddy has 2 Audiobahn 12's on a 400 watt Xplode amp, and I have my Jensen and Xplode sub on a 600 watt PYRAMID (LMAO) amp and everyone agrees, mine smokes his.

Strength:

Nice tight low end. Sounds good at low volume.

Weakness:

Porting your box will take away from this sub's sound quality. Hard to feel the sub at louder volumes (though this may only be due to my lack of power running into it.)

I was just looking for something to bump in the car and saw this at Sears on clearance for 40 bucks. Best 40 bucks I spent on the car! I hooked it up in a Qlogic box with a Jensen amp running 150rms-300 peak watts and it sounds great. Really tight and it can hit lows like some 12"s I have heard. Now Ive got it in a dual 10" setup (one sony one JL) on 100 watts per sub and it holds it own with the JL. Very good sub for the price. Even 80 bucks would be a good price.

clear crisp bass doesnt take up much room low frequency fast contractions for quick yet heavy bass beats

Weakness:

none that i have found, >>after using this since February, its now, July, it still amazes me of how much this sub pushes and to consider thats only one 10"

all i gota say is wow! i only have one! jus one of these boxed in the back of my 2000 Alero amped off ofa 400w kenwood. this sub delivers such clear crisp bass...i hava sony cdxl550 hed, 4 pioneer internal speakers2way, 2 delco dashmounted tweeters..and the kenwood amp to this sub.....i was debating between the bazooka tube, or this, but by far i would buy this....i have a strong message to those who are considering buying a sub...*****MONEY ISNT EVERYTHING, JUS BECAUSE SOMETHING IS EXPENSIVE, DOESNT MEAN ITS THE BEST, A $40 SUB LIKE THIS, CAN GO HEAD TO HEAD WITH ANY OTHER 10INCH OUT THERE*****

I'M RUNNING A SINGLE 10" SUB WITH A PROFILE CLARUS300 AMP. THIS BABY REALLY HITS HARD USING ONLY .7 CUBIC FEET. I WAS REALLY SUPRISED AND THE QUALITY AND STRENGTH OF THE BASS PRODUCE BY A SINGLE 10" SUB. GREAT SUB FOR THE PRICE.

Relatively not low power, nice bass.

I didnt believe xplods were nice. I just hear 2 10s in a ported box, being powered first by a kenwood 200watts MAX, yeah MAX. They slam the whole store. Now they are being powered by an alpine about 200rms for both and they rumble the cars outside. Powerful subs, and tight bass, not boomy.

pioneer diamond plated 12s, they were sensitive and distort. better sony subs.

Strength:

Small size, Sounds Great, Price was GREAT

Weakness:

max power 600 watts but thats ok they still sound great !!

I bought and installed these sony''s in a bandpass box in the trunk of my hatchback integra. All I can say is "Damn !!!" They sound great and are really loud. I have them hooked up to a no name brand 500 watt amp and they kick. Most people dont even believe the sound from my car is comming from 2 10''s.

Similar Products Used:

1 15" Kicker Xpl. I think the Kicker was louder but it costs $250 - $300 and was too large for my trunk :(
