Apex Dunk Series Cat back Exhaust Systems

Apex Dunk Series Cat back Exhaust Systems

DESCRIPTION

The Original trend setting DUNK inspired earlier versions of the ID ( International DUNK) and countless knockoff copies. The canister and tip are both constructed of a polished SUS 304 stainless steel and the piping is treated in a titanium particle based high temperature paint to prevent high temperature cracking. Despite the 130mm tip, the exhaust actually looks smaller from the rear view due to the rounded 200mm canister. This allows you to hide the full potential of your vehicle performance. The high level of finish, 130mm tip size, and real HP increase all keep the DUNK one step ahead. Available for Toyota, Nissan, Mazda and Subaru.

Strength:

nice contruction, beautiful old school look

Weakness:

the size of the actual canister is going to attract attention

This is an outstanding exhaust system. I had a regular N1 style rip off before and it was ridiculously loud making me feel stupid and ricey. After installing the dunk... which is huge, (we had to shorten tyhe piping a little so it didnt stick out so far) I noticed an major increase in pedal smoothness and the tone was perfect. Just be warned in california the police can see a dunkpretty easily and they seem to like pulling you over for it even tho its one of the most quiet exhausts ive seen. Matched with DC 4-1 headers and intake it really makes a big difference in performance.

Strength:

this was my first modification to my car. i could feel some extra power. the sound of the exhaust is great. you dont get a high pitch when you accelerate to high levels. it keeps a low deep pitch at all times.

Weakness:

it was kinda pricy. $500...but i guess most brand name exhaust sytems are pricy. makes cabin very loud. so..be prepared

i had a choice between N1 and Dunk for the same price. i chose dunk because i like the looks of the big tip. it looks mean. but if you're goin straight for power and you can get N1 and Dunk for same price, i'd probably go with the N1...but for looks and some power, it's all about Dunk. if you dont like that high pitch sound, however, i would do with DUnk also

Strength:

Vastly improves spool up time of the turbo, much more freer flowing, noticeable performance increase, good looks, stainless steel (good against road salt)

Weakness:

Muffler is pretty big and I've scraped it a couple times--without a lowered car...nothing major though.

I would recommend it because it is an effective catback exhaust that is not extremely loud and does it job well...especially on a turbo car such as mine.

Strength:

Looks nice, good quality, and nice bends.

Weakness:

Huge 5 inch tip, scrapes on everything, has a buzzy sound at low rpm.

Its a nice system but its kinda old school looking. The huge canister and big tip arent in anymore. I would go with the Apex N1 over this exhaust just because of the fact that its pretty played out. It also wont work with most bodykits. The bumpers have to be cut to fit the huge tip. Who wants to cut up their bodykit?

Strength:

Good looks, deep throaty sound, very intimidating to the person behind you

Weakness:

Can scrape on large dips if installed too low.

Bought this as a custom setup for my 2k Protege ES. Along with my HKS intake i can tell a huge power difference with these add-ons. I'm pulling close to 20 more real hp on the dyno.

GReddy exhaust- too buzy
Tanabe- great exhaust but again not enough depth to the exhaust tone
