Strength:

Great sound, great oval look, great price I paid,

Weakness:

The can isn't chrome anymore, not much hp gain, and they have discontiuted this exhaust at Tanabe.

This exhaust is awesome. I just installed it last weekend and I brought it used from a guy in CA, the guy had it for about two years, so it was broken in. You would think the exhaust would be rusting or crack. I got the whole cat-back and took me about 1 hour to install the whole system and it was super easy and perfect fit. The exhaust tip is still shining and not bend, but the can itself is a turned a yellowish brown color, but my kit covers the car. I took the pipe out and it was clean, not loud and fobby like the 5zigen fireball or greddy evo. It's quiet when you're just crusing, but when you gas it, it's a deep roar that screams motor. I didn't really gain much HP, but torpue pulls a little faster with my CIA.

Strength:

very quiet and deep, doesn't get any negative attention has tremendous amounts of gain (for me at least)

Weakness:

i've heard stories about how the exhaust will get loud over time, hasn't happened to me yet though

i'm aware of the attention that integras get so i am VERY glad that this exhaust the quietest aftermarket exhaust i've ever heard and has a relatively stock look (not a bazooka launcher shaped muffler)...gains were very noticeable as i took my car to the 1/8 mile track after installation and got .4 of a second improvement in just the 1/8 mile!

stock exhaust (about the same noise level wise, tanabe is deeper though)

Great quality Awsome one of a kind tip Pipes are all tucked well Good fit Noticeable gain in performance

Weakness:

Starts of quiet, then gets LOUD!! If you want to hear this loudness I keep refering to just put any form of forces induction on your engine. It will sound like you have a Thermal in no time.

Okay, let me say that the build quality and performance gains of the G-Power are great. Let me also say what everyone else has yet to experience. The G-Power will become VERY loud over time. I''ve had it on my car about 2-1/2 years now. About one year of that time running a JRSC. Just prior to putting on the SC it started to become annoyingly loud. It is droning at highway speeds. I really have to talk loud just to be heard above it. Now keep in mind, it retains that nice deep, aggressive tone. But people seem to think this is a quiet exhaust. It is a true striaght through design and after about a year to two years your going to realize that the same wool packing (I know there is steel in there too) that makes it sound so aggressive and low, will also blow out and cause the exhaust to become exceedingly loud. I''m dwelling on this point but I cannot stress it enough being that I am exposed to the exhaust''s noises every day. One good thing to note is that the B pipe is tucked nice. Many systems have the middle section hanging low....not the Tanabe. The look of the muffler, especially the tip is very smooth and classic. Also, there is a very noticeable gain in the high RPM range. It really un-corks the engine.

Strength:

- nice construction: clean welds, nice polish - easy installation - b-pipe doesn''t hang low like Greddy - not loud, very quiet unless if you floor it (quieter than greddy, same as RS-R) - deep sound - perforance was notable - includes Polishing Wax for the Muffler

Weakness:

- ceramic coating on b-pipe cracked while spraying pressured water on it after about a year of use

I fully recommend the Tanabe G-Power Exhaust System to any enthusiast. If I had to buy another exhaust sytem, it would be from Tanabe. To see pictures of the exhaust click on http://www.designical.com/car.html

Strength:

Build Quality, horsepower gains, looks, and deep throaty sound upon acceleration.

Weakness:

Tanabe has discontinued the G-power line-up for sale in the US.

I was looking for an exhaust that produced horsepower, had a great sound and would not be embarrasingly loud (I''m in my 30''s lol). The G-Power exhaust fit all my criteria. I was leaning towards a Greddy SP, but my local dealer showed the two exhausts side by side and the G-Power had a far better build quality.

1996 PRELUDE V-TEC
Model Reviewed: 1996 PRELUDE SR-V

Strength:

SUPER EASY FIT WITH NO MODIFICATIONS, GREAT LOOKS, GREAT SOUND, SUPER QUIET AS FAR AS PERFORMANCE EXHAUSTS GO (COPS DON'T HEAR YOU A BLOCK AWAY). GREAT POWER ACCROSS THE WHOLE POWERBAND AND IMPROVED LOW END TORQUE AND TOP END HORSEPOWER

Weakness:

BIG FAT PIPE. I WOULD PREFER A SMALLER PIPE, HOWEVER THE BIG FAT ONE DOES LOOK PRETTY GOOD. STICKS OUT FROM BUMPER EDGE ABOUT ONE INCH (I KINDA WANTED IT TO BE FLUSH WITH THE BUMPER). I THINK THE PIPING SHOULD BE A 1/4" LARGER.

I LOOKED HARD FOR A QUIET EXHAUST SYSTEM AND ALL THE TOP MODELS THAT GAVE GOOD POWER WERE ALL LOUD. I HAVE A SLEEPER CAR AND LIKE THE FACT A PERFORMANCE EXHAUST CAN BE RELATIVLY QUIET. IT HAS A BEAUTIFUL HUM AT CRUISE SPEEDS AND ROARS WHEN I HIT V-TEC. I WAS IMPRESSED WITH THE POWER BUT AS WITH ALL EXHAUSTS, THERE IS ONLY SO MUCH POWER AN EXHAUST CAN GIVE A NATURALLY ASPIRATED ENGINE. THE STAINLESS TIP NEVER DULLS UP. THE ACTUAL MUFFLER NEEDS TO BE POLISHED ALL THE TIME. I LIKE THE CERAMIC COATING FOR THE PIPING BEFORE THE MUFFLER.

Similar Products Used:

ALL OTHER EXHAUSTS ARE LOUDER, I DID ALOT OF REESEARCH, AND COULD NOT FIND AN EXHAUST SYSTEM THAT HAD POWER GAINS THAT THE G-POWER DOES AT THE SAME QUIET NOISE LEVEL.

Strength:

Quiet at idle, not annoying at 75. Gives great deep sound all the way through acceleration. Does not sound like an angry weedeater. Looks great, fit my car very well. Looks and sound second only to the power increase.

Weakness:

Pricey, but not more than other cat-back systems, you get what you pay for.

I would recommend this to anyone who would desire for their car's exhaust to be attractive, great sounding and deliver performance gains. May not please some hardcore noise addicts, but this exhaust gives all the noise I desire and does not turn cops heads unless I am hammering it. The deep sound gives a true performance tone, made the car simply feel a thousand times more sporty.

Sound very deep, to me its the deepest of all import cars i've heard. Looks, oval look gives a great compromise to my car's shape and my exhaust opening on the bumper. Performance was great as well, does not feel at all loss of torque feels like i might even gained some.

Weakness:

Price and Maybe too loud on dates, or when needing peace and quite.
but that's what my Xterra is for.

Overly Satisfied!! Gpower gave me around 10HP, tested with a GTech before and after installation. I quess that's why tanabe is #1. Gives the best power from just an exhaust alone. These exhuasts also have the deepest sound available. to me this exhuast has the classist look to all other aftermarket exhaust, it has a curved shape that can match the curved shape of your car and have the racy look to it. Gpower sounds like i have a 400 HP engine, even though its probably only at 155.
