Strength:

Perfect direct fit. Installation was a breeze. Compared to stock, throttle response is awesome throughout RPM range, VERY noticeable gains in the Vtec power band. Nice deep throaty sound. Comes with full installation and warranty papers and even a number to contact EPA regarding emmissions issues.

Weakness:

Unfortunately after doing research, some vehicles equipped with OBDII systems ('97 and up)have problems with high flow cats (Note: this applies to ALL brands of high flow cats, not just Random Technology) being too free flowing causing the O2 sensor(s) to trip the check engine light with the P0420 code. It will pass emissions fine; however, your check engine light will always be on which can eventually cause other problems because the computer will be trying to compensate for the problem. Nevertheless I still highly reccomend this product if your model vehicle hasnt had a history of this problem when equipped with an RT cat, just ask the guys if your particular model car has had any history of my problem with the check engine light. Random Technology is constantly developing and improving their products so the guys there will know.

Installed Random Tech cat on a '97 Prelude. Compared to stock, throttle response is awesome throughout RPM range, VERY noticeable gains in the Vtec power band. Unfortunately had to return because the converter is too free flowing for the OBDII on my vehicle and was tripping check engine light with code P0420 (Catalytic Efficiency Below Threshold). Dealt with Clay at Random Tech and Tom at Lightning Motorsports about the problem, was told this is a rare occurrence but they've seen this scenario happen. I have two friends with RT cats on their 97 Civics and they've had no problems with check engine lights and pass emissions with flying colors. My hat definitely goes off to Clay at Random Tech and Tom and the boys at Lightning Motorsports. They were very understanding of my rare situation, gave me a full refund with no hassle what so ever. I highly recommend both these companies and won't hesitate for a second to do business with them again. I'd like to add after reading some of these reviews that some of these clowns need brains. Like the fool recommending NOS instead of this cat....you need to have a proper free flowing exhaust before you even think about NOS (you know he's fresh off the boat, but hey thats the crap they do..he's probably riding around right now in a '79 pinto with hydraulics, a ton of chrome trim and tassles, no exhaust, and NOS,...oh yeah, an alarm, cant forget the alarm!) and the guy with the '87 Vette...gimmie a break (your problem is that corvette emblem on the front....being that old and being a vette, trust me used to own one, ... you got far more problems than a catalytic converter.....junk..oh yeah and ya know your supposed to take the shipping packing out of the cat inlet and outlet pipes before you install it............) --Gimmie a break!

Strength:

More power, better sound, well made.

Weakness:

A little pricey.

The reviews are what convinced me to order the Random Tech converters. After a little over a month, I'm still very pleased. My car definitely has more power and sounds better too. Installation was easy. The hardest part was removing the old converters. I noticed some of the other reviews were negative, but it seems to me the writers are just whining. True, the Random converters are on the expensive side, but I've never found a really good car part that was cheap. I've had other brands of converters on other cars and was never impressed by them. These are great.

Strength:

Noticable power gains in the high end.

Weakness:

Have to modify your o2 sensor wirng to make it reach. Probably want to order the extention from dc sports if they would sell you one.

I had the converter for one year and I had to send it to random tech for a new one. Have pictures of old one. It was all rusted and the heat shield came off. Overall, better power gains compared to the stock converter.

Strength:

Lots more upper rpm power. I''m getting 220RWHPs and 307 ft/lbs torque with the Random Tech and a completely OE exhaust system. And no rattles thus far. For my type car, it works extremely well.P

Weakness:

None thus far. Despite it''s about 2x the price of most of the other cats, it seems worth the price.>

I was using a straight pipe for many years until CT started doing visual inspections at their emissions stations. So, I had to go back to the OE converter that only had about 6Kmiles on it. When it was swapped for the pipe, I lost considerable power over 4,500 rpm as if a cork were installed. When the Random Tech was swapped for the OE cat, it was a lot like having the straight pipe reinstalled without all the excessive noise. I now have power right up to 5,300 rpm and my OE exhaust sounded better than with the OE cat. There was a substantial, seat of the pants, feel from anything over 4,000 rpms and feels very similar to the straight pipe. I don''t yet know if I''ll pass emissions or not, but, as far as performance, I can''t complain. It''s pretty substantial over the older tech monolithic 3 way cat that came with my car originally.

It sucks, not a big deal, buy NOS instead of a catalytic converter lol, it''s a waste of $!

Weakness:

rattled after one year of use, Random-Tech is a pain and so is the shop (MAS wheelhouse in the bay area)

I had to replace my cat so i went for Random-tech, after a year of using it it started to rattle a lot and they say it comes with a 5 year warranty but it has been a hassle to get a new one, everyone is being a pain.

Strength:

soooo much better then what came with the car (stock)!!!!
with that and a dc sport header and thermal R&D cat-back exhaust this is the perfect exhaust setup!! I had this on here before i had the rest of the exhaust upgrades and it took a little bit of my take off speed away but noticed a differents after 3000rpms and when i would hit the gas at 65mph to jump up to a higher speed it was so much better then the stock converter

Weakness:

takes alittle off your stop and go from a redlight but makes up for it in mids and highs

well i had to replace the stock converter because it would rattle sooooo bad when it was hot and i was looking into performance converters and found a number of converters....everything was universal except this and pacesetter and i know a guy with a prelude that has a pacesetter converter and exhaust and he said pacesetter was junk and most people at hondapreludes.com will tell you pacesetter is junk!
this converter is full stainless steel and made for most cars so if you need a converter this is your best choice so far that is why i will give it a good rating
