Vortech V-5 Superchargers Superchargers

Vortech V-5 Superchargers Superchargers

DESCRIPTION

Designed to be utilized on 1.6 to 4 liter engines, this unit features a very low surge threshold which makes it ideal for smaller displacement engines. The V-5 was engineered and tested using Vortech's state-of-the-art test cell (built to SAE standard J1723). The result is a supercharger unit with an extremely efficient compressor design which translates into less horsepower needed to drive the supercharger, cooler discharge temperatures and more available boost throughout the entire range of engine operations. The V-5 supercharger makes it possible to supercharge smaller displacement engines utilized extensively in the import car market, as well as in jet skis, snow mobiles and motorcycles.

Model Reviewed: 2000 Civic Si

Strength:

Reliability, and disgusting boost in HP and torque. Good for dialy driving as well.

Weakness:

There are very few retailers who know how to tune a Vortec system, and even fewer who I will TRUST to do it. It's an extremely well-made system, and any wrongdoings can undermine its effectiveness. Pricey, but well-worth the money. Although, not drastically expensive when compared to other superchargers.

The vortec system is reputed to beat all other supercharger systems for small-displacement imports (GReddy, Jackson, etc.) in output and maintenence. I put my V-5 system on two months ago. Installation was reasonably easy, but installing ANY supercharger takes a lot of labor and time. My stock Civic Si pushed 177 hp and 143 lbs of torque with an Apexi N1 exhaust and DC headers. After the install of my Vortec system, and the addition of a BLITZ! fuel regulator, I estimate my power to be around 280 hp and over 210 lbs of torque. I know the immense boost of the Vortec is talked about in mags (Import Racer, Sport Compact, and Super Street) but it is all TRUE. The advantage to the Vortec over a TURBO SYSTEM, is that it gives me power from about 1,500 rpm all the way to redline. My friend has a 94 Civic with a B16 using a GReddy turbo: the turbo lag is almost obscene. Fast starts are far easier to acheive and perfect with the Vortec. Top Speed thus far: 158 mph...but that's not all IT can do, just all I can handle.
