GReddy Turbo System Turbochargers

GReddy Turbo System Turbochargers

DESCRIPTION

Thanks to advances in aerodynamics, precision machining and thermal dynamics, our turbos are compact, yet capable of tremendous air flow. You don't have to be an engineer or send away for dozens of compressor maps to select the right turbo. We've done the hard work for you, taking into account engine speed, desired boost, engine's swept volume and practical volumetric efficiency. Systems are available for most Japanese import cars.

Strength:

Big power, big torque. No blown belts typically seen with superchargers

Weakness:

running out of gas! I have nothing bad to say about the Greddy twin turbo kit for the 350Z. It's just straight up fast right out of the box

I went from a Procharger to a Greddy twin turbo and man what a difference! Stomp on the gas at 3K rpm with a supercharger and you get nothing. Do the same with the twin turbo and get into full boost by 3200 rpm! The biggest difference is that now I don't need NOS at all. I"m putting down over 525 at the wheels at 5200rpm and 525rwtq at just 3200rpm's. After having now both the supercharger and turbo I'd never go back to a supercharger ever again. But....don't just buy the kit and expect the Greddy Emange to do all the tuning for you. You have to get it tuned, I recommend SGP Racing in Houston TX. It's not cheap but nothing good ever is.

Strength:

Best bang for your buck. Buy a boost controller to get more power. But be careful!

Weakness:

Does not come with these items: intercooler, BOV, turbo timer, boost gauge. Add the price of these items to the turbo kit and that'll be closer to the real money you'll be spending. You'll also want to get a bigger exhaust and testpipe or hiflow cat. Horsepower aint cheap!

I love this turbo kit. Can really feel the difference at only 5.5 psi of boost. Easy installation... everything is bolt on. Only welding needed is to get the BOV flange on to the charge pipe. Also need to drill holes in to your oil pan. But that's easy too.

Went the intake/header/exhaust route. What a waste of money.

Strength:

Quick spool, much more torque, high quality parts, fitment, driving=fun

Weakness:

BAD directions

Excellent for the street, lots of usable power, very quick to spool. Smooth power curve due to the e-manage fmu included in the kit. I recommend the installation of the GReddy intercooler as well. Overall has made the car lots more fun to drive, not to mention suprising the hell out of most people! Regardless of what people say this kit is a "bolt on" for the most part for 96-00 civics, but is not advertised as such due to emissions and lack of CARB approval on OBD2 vehicles.

i purcahsed the greddy turbo kit used from my friend. It took a while to install( about 9-10 hours ) but man it was worth the wait. There was a big notice in hp gains. I was only running 10 psi and my wheels would not stop screaming until the middle of third gear!!! very powerful. Would recommend to anyone how wants thier car to gain hp instantly.

Model Reviewed: 2001

Strength:

Fit and finish of the kit is almost OEM. Very minimal lag. Perfect for the street. Best intercooler i've ever had, it keeps the pipes ice cold even under heavy boost.

Weakness:

Definitely need a BOV. The turbo surges like crazy without one. Lacks a bit of power in the top end. Must purchase smaller battery in order to fit intercooler piping.

The kit defenitely gives the car an extra boost in power, more than what an intake header, and exhaust can give. Lag is very minimal, it pulls hard from 2000rpm to about 4000rpm but power levels off a bit until vtec kicks in, then pulls hard until redline. Because of the size of turbo, top end power is limited. An extra few psi would make the kit more desirable to the one's looking for something that will perform on the street as well as the track.

Drag Gen.III on 2000 civic si. The GReddy kit produces more power down low in the revs, but can't touch the power the T3/T4 makes up top.

--Fit and finish of the kit --Great power gain --The turbo and BOV noises, =] --Looks great under the hood --Fits to OEM-like specifications --Did I mention the power gain?

Weakness:

--Instructions were useless --Doesn''t include a fuel pump --GReddy filter is cheap and made of foam

After deciding the basic intake, header, and exhaust weren''t cutting it, I decided forced induction was the only way to go. Let me tell you ... this thing kicks some serious ass! There''s a lot more turbo lag than I expected from such a small turbo, but once the car hits 3000rpm, my Civics flies. The whoosh from the turbo and exhale of my TurboXS Type S BOV are unbelievable. There''s a definite gain in power, and the feeling is nothing short of exilerating. It''s a definite must to get a fuel pump, though. My car was detonating heavily on WOT, so a Walbro 255lph has been ordered two days before this post and should be installed anytime soon, pending the arrival of the fuel pump. Also, don''t forget to run 91+ octane. But other than those, this kit transforms your car into something it never was, and the best thing: it''s smog legal!

Model Reviewed: 1990 Mazda Miata

Strength:

Great bang for buck, easy install, complete kit, good power increase

Weakness:

instructions all in japanese, slow spoolup, weak bottom end power

Give your miata a kick! This thing is great! At around $1325 brand new shipped to my door, it''s by far the best bang for the buck. The mitsubishi TD04-H turbo that comes with the kit is excellent for the low boost the kit is designed to run. It''s not geared toward high boost-junkies. It''s a little soft at low rev''s due to the timing being dropped back pretty far, but at 4K RPM watch out! The kit was very complete with all fittings, lines, bolts, Fuel pressure regulator, etc. I needed nothing more than a few hours to install. The install took me about 6 hours in my driveway alone. Add in a few hours if you''re not an experienced mechanic. And also add some time to fabricate some type of heat shield to avoid baking the paint off of the hood. Basically this kit is for anyone looking for a good easy power gain on their 1.6L miata engine. I gained 40HP to the rear wheels at 5psi. And the best thing is, it''s very easy to upgrade. It makes the car so much more fun to drive, mustangs beware.

Strength:

small turbo equals little turbo lag

Weakness:

small turbo equals little hp gain

I got this turbo used off the web and could not pass it up! The kit is a bolt on but because I have an EK, I could not use the black box (which simply means insert the missing link check valve). After it was installed, I put down 130tq & 140hp to the wheels with a stock exhaust, stock injectors, stock fuel pump & no intercooler and running REAL lean above 5K rpms (reason for lack of hp)

Anyway, the kit makes the car so much fun to drive! It hits full boost around 3Krpm and gives the car lots of kick! of course, we're not talking globs of power here because the turbo is so small.

If you have a small budget and want to go FI, this is definitely the way to fly!

The instructions are almost useless

If you're looking for bolt-on horsepower w/o breaking the bank, I highly recommend this kit. No custom fabrication whatsoever, and it almost looks like it came from the factory!!! (Honda should offer these as a dealer option) As stated earlier, the instructions that comes w/the kit is pretty much a joke but, after a few mintues of searching the net, and talking to some friends, I found out everything I needed to know.
