Ok, so I dialed the AIG number and sat here on hold. While I waited I started reading reviews. Needless to say, after being on hold for 5 minutes and reading the reviews, I hung up. I mean really how busy are they at 1:30am ?

I have to agree with the entire posting of ineptness on the part of AIG. I was involved in an accident in which the other driver was at fault. I incurred approximately $10,000 in medical bills due to a permanantly damaged nerve in my spine. After hiring an attorney and dealing with this company for nearly 2 years their claim specialists were still disputing the findings of 4 separate and independant doctors and telling me that I was never injured. I was out of work for nearly 6 months and in rehab for 3 of those months trying to get back to where I could lift my arm and hold a bottle of water. I saw my family doctor, the emergency room doctor, 2 neurosurgeons and the doctors and nurses charged with my rehabilitation. But AIG knew better than all of them and continued to tell me that I was never injured. I was finally worn down from being out of work and behind on my bills to the point that I had to accept a settlement of approximately half of what I should have received. I received enough to pay the medical bills but that was about it. This is the most disreputable company on the market and all of the reviews are starting to show that. I for one hope that this monster of a company goes out of business for good.

My car was hit in front of my home during the night and totalled. Never found out who did it. Call AIG reported my loss was told an adjuster would call me in 24 hours it too 72 hours and multiple call from me to get to speak with someone. The adjuster was the moste inept of them all she refused to return my calls unless I spoke with her supervisor to complain. I was told my rental car would not be covered because I was not in the car when it was hit which is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of, and this was after I had to call several different numbers and talk to countless people just to get the info on the rental. The appraiser came out to look at the car within 2 days, but it took 3 weeks for the adjuster to decide the car was actually totalled. I did want to have the car repaired and the body shop was willing to do it on a contract, but the adjuster refused. After the car sat at the body shop for 3 weeks and the adjuster found out how much the storage bill was then she wants to let them fix it. Well I had already bought a new car by this time. It took them another 2 weeks and countless calls from the body shop to get them to pick up the car. I had to speak to the supervisors supervisor to get results and get my check for the car. Needless to say, my renewal time is here and I will definitely choose another company.

ABYSMAL customer service! No two people tell you the same information. It would be good to tell me the same information but don't give me a different excuse every time I call!!

This isn't exactly about AIG's actual policy but about their customer service. Wait! Don't skip to the others. This is important stuff! I started out actually going to go with StateFarm and even though I would have paid $400 more, I think I should have. I entered a qoute online for AIG and continued to buy it. My credit card company rejected it but on a second pass accepted it. Over the weekend (they tout 24/7 service), they tell me that they don't show anything being processed or that they received a payment or that I even bought the policy. What's worse is I got a different excuse each time I called. I would call at 12pm and they said their systems are updating and would be offline till 5pm. I called at 3pm, and their systems were fully functional and they said we were never updating our systems. Skipping ahead, I spoke to someone last night and he informed me we would be able to fax your ID cards to you in the morning so you can register your car. I said great and you've been the most helpful yet! Morning comes. "Sir, we do not fax ID cards. You will receive them in the mail." I said WHAT??!! Then I got a call from sales - why sales?! I already paid! They were actually helpful and said I would receive the ID cards sometime between 12 and 3pm today. Hopefully that will be the case and G-D willing I will have enough time to register the car today. I'll be back to let you know how it goes.

AIG is the company with which I carried insurance. In December I was involved in an accident in which the other driver failed to stop. I immediately called AIG, we were out of our home state, and they promised a return call within 24 hours. They never called, they could not connect me to an adjuster when I was on the phone with the them. I made all the arrangemwents to get my vehicle home and still no call from AIG. Upon returning home I was assigned an adjuster who also never returned phone calls. The outside firm they hired to appraise the damage said they were not a good company to work with. The other driver was caught and her insurance company agreed to pay the damages but first AIG had to provide them the information. This took many weeks with numerous unreturned calls. If you want an exercise in frustration deal with AIG. They have to be the poorest service company around and they were my insurance carrier

Thank goodness I am NOT an AIG consumer! We have had the most unfortunate and displeasureable experiance with this company. Our vechile is a total loss after an accident the day after Thanksgiving. The accident was not our fault, but that of the BFI sanitation driver. The accident occured in W.VA., we are from Ky., and the AIG adjuster is from Atlanta Ga. Needless to say, this has been a complete fiasco. The adjuster has lied to us, refuses to reimburse us for the rental car,etc. He tells us one thing, and then does something completely different! Our insurance company, Motorists, has tried to help us, and it looks like we will have to sue in order to get anything done. The AIG adjuster acts like he hasn't a clue as to what he is doing. I would do without insurance before I would have AIG. A far as I am concerned, this company, or at least this one adjuster, is completely unrelaible and likes to talk from both sides of the mouth. We have been totally cooperative with this company, but the niceness has now ended when we were informed today that the company has no intention of paying for the rental car, or re-imbursing us for our deposits.They also agreed to pay taxes for a truck we are having to replace our old one with, due to the accident. Of course, they have now reconsidered and are denying that payment. We have consulted a lawyer, and he, as well as our insurance company, have agreed that AIG needs to pay this claim as agreed. I am no longer being nice, and will report this company and the adjuster to the insurance commisioner, as well as the Better Business Bureau. I have been an insurance consumer for 28 years, and with the same company.I have been involved in accidents before(never one time have any been my fault), and this is the first time I or my husband has EVER been treated like we have been treated with this company.

I too fell for this scam. I swithched from Nationwide to aig in november of last year, with no trouble what so ever, you always get to talk to a person, while they are getting your down payment and then, when you need them, thats a different story, My car was involved in an accident in April, not my fault it was totaled,and Progressive paid me for my car. The problem I have is my insurance company...I went online to pay my bill and they would not accept my payment , when I called it was the 21st of may I had been driving with NO insurance for 6 days, I called them to be told that i was not going to be renewed because of the accident in April, (which the driver at fault made no claim against me).Today May 26th I recieve a letter from aig telling me "you did not accept our offer to renew your automobile coverage therefore your policy has not been renewed at your request" If I hadnt been trying to pay them I would not have known untill today the 28th of may that I was not covered at all. At first I was sooo mad I could burst, but after reading the other entries here I am glad to have another insurance company, I live in Florida and I am forwarding this to the insurance commisioner .Somthing needs to be done about this company if enough people band together somthing will be done.

I do not have my insurance with AIG and would not recommend it to anyone. I had a minor fender bender with one of AIG's clients. Their client was ticketed and charged with the accident. My car (brand new) is driveable, but the rear bumper was damaged and will need to be replaced. AIG actually sent an adjustor out to give me an estimate on my car ($1120) not including rental car while it is being repaired. Now AIG refuses to proceed until they can "verify" with their client that she is actually covered. They suggested I file this with my insurance and then, at some time in the future, when they have cleared things up with their client, I could have my insurance company request to be re-imbursed. I am now leaving messages, with no returned phone calls. This should have been an easy claim to have settled. I have had other claims in my past 20 years of driving (one was my fault, and the other was not). Both times, the insurance companies I dwelt with were very professional, took care of my needs and the other driver's needs without hesitation and without hassle. Promised low rates don't mean anything if you can't get service when you have a need for their product. DO NOT PURCHASE INSURANCE FROM AIG. You will be paying premiums with no real coverage.

None -- Bate and switch, rip-off, scam artists!

Incompetent, unreliable, disorganized. Terrible customer service -- don't know their @#$ from a hole in the ground. When you call customer service they always give you the run around and nothing is ever their fault.

This company had been nothing but trouble from the very beginning -- although I have no one to blame but myself for not getting rid of them sooner. When we switched from GEICO to AIG because they offered a lower rate I arranged to pay the premium through an electronic transfer from my checking account. After several weeks, I didn't receive insurance cards so I called them. They said my payment did not got through but they didn't bother to notify me. I tried two or three times to pay my premium this way before I finally broke down and paid with a credit card. This was a big mistake I should have looked for another company. Not once did they contact me to say the payment did not go through, so we were basically driving around without any insurance. The first couple of years our rates went up only slightly, but six months ago when it was time to renew our premium nearly doubled from the previous six months. I called the company and asked them why our premium had increased so much when we hadn't filed any claims. They said they raised everyone's rates in WV. I spent some time trying to find other insurance, but many other insurance companies wouldn't return my calls or aren't issuing any new policies here. So we got stuck with AIG for another six months. It is a rip-off. We are now paying over $1200 a year for liablity insurance on two vehicles that are over ten years old. Our premium came due again a week ago. I arranged to make a payment online -- and I have done this successfully several times after the initial problems I have had making payments electronically. I got a letter today dated 1/15 saying that our coverage expired because they did not receive my payment, but the premium was deducted from my account on 1/12. I would say the mistake might lie with the credit union, but they are reliable and competent unlike the insurance company. Another annoying thing about this company is that they aren't smart enough to figure out that you are already a customer and they send you notices of special offers to reduce your rates. The notices say "you may be overpaying by hundreds of dollars." If you have insurance with AIG you certainly are overpaying! Don't let their low rates suck you in -- it won't last!

Don't use AIG. My car was hit and totalled by an AIG customer. When the accident first occured we both called AIG and they had me take the car to one of their repair stations. My car sat there for three weeks without being touched because they sent the assignment to the wrong shop. Then they tell me the car is totalled so I start to look for a car. I get a phone call after three days checking my progress and telling me I only have seven days left with the rental. I told them the same day they told me it was totalled that I still wanted my car because it was only surface damage and the number they gave to reapir it was so far off it was ridiculous. After waiting almost four weeks for them to get my car back to me it I had yet another little surprise in store for me. My cd player had been stolen, My emergency brake was shot and my front and bake brakes which had just been replaced before the accident were screeching, my heat and a/c just don't work at all anymore, and my car which is a stick shift makes this strange loud clatter/hum and has a strong vibration that's almost like a shudder when it's on. And now for the icing on the cake....Amazingly no one at AIG will return my phone calls. It's looking like I'm going to have to get a lawyer to settle this. This is a horrible company that is so busy shifting blame for each employees gross negligence and incompetence that they are basically selling policies that are meaningless since it's nearly impossible to be compensated for a claim.
