A reservation does not actually guarantee you a car!

I had a car reserved at the Atlanta airport, but no cars were available when my flight arrived. There were several other customers present in the same situation. I was told it would be at least a two hour wait to get any car, let alone the type I had reserved.

The employees informed me that a reservation doesn't guarantee you a car, it only guarantees the price. Advantage will never refuse a reservation. They will let anyone reserve a car anytime, regardless of whether a car will actually be available.

You read that right - A RESERVATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOU A CAR!!!

Fortunately, Hertz had a car available for a reasonable price. However, some others were not so lucky. They had booked their car directly with Advantage and pre-paid to get a slightly cheaper rate. Advantage refused to refund their money, even though they had no cars!

What a despicable company.

Avoid this company at all costs. They are cheap for a reason.

They are the worst car rental company. They pulled a fast one on my wife's rental. I am going to file a claim against them to get our money back. Stay away from this company.

The customer service line is terrible. Extremely long waiting times and rude associates who have been transferring me to the wrong people and who have hung up on me for asking questions they didn't have the answer to. When trying to ask how much a cancellation fee would be if I cancelled last minute the associate hurriedly answer "$200". I was confused because my rental total was only $64.21 for less than 24 hours. When trying to ask for clarity the associate kept cutting me off and wasn't answering my questions. I asked for a supervisor and the girl transferred me to Orbitz because she kept insisting they had the answer. MY RENTAL WAS THROUGH ADVANTAGE NOT ORBITZ. That's what I kept trying to tell her. I cancelled my reservation and I WILL NEVER book through Advantage again!!!

Rented a car, waited in line for 30 minutes, car assigned to me has dents from car accident and interior is dirty and smells really bad and to top it all fuel tank is almost empty had to go wait in line for another 30 minutes to get a replacement car. Not coming back to this place for sure !!

I recently rented a car from Advantage in Orlando Fl. Pricing was great. Customer service was fine. Was not pressure to buy add ons when I declined. Pick up and Drop Off at MCO Airport was a breeze. Would not hesitate to use them again. Do not know why majority of reviews are so critical.

Chockingly bad attitude by clerk and bad customer service.

I found a great deal by advantage car rental. I made a reservation through the 800 number. I went to their office at JFK airport to puck up the minivan. Advantage has it's office at Dollar off. There were 2 clerks at dollar desk and 1 at advantage. As I walked in I noticed them smirking at me. I went over to the clerk and she started right away being so rude. I asked if she'd like the reservation number? She answered: can't you see I got it?! OK... then came the insurance part, she continued being disgustingly rude. After a long time taking all my insurance info she said that I was responsible for liability of the car. I asked how so? You have my insurance! She: you are not listening to me! If you would be listening you wouldn't ask. At this point I've had it!!! I said: why are you so rude? She: me rude??!! That's it! I don't want to deal with you. You ARE responsible for everything in the car. I said: I am walking out of here. I will not deal with such attitude! I left without the car. I went to a different company to rent. I filed a complaint with advantage. No one has called me! I called the manager three times and he has not taken my call saying he's calling right back but has not called!!!
Worst company ever!!!!
Stay away from them!!!!

BEWARE of the website of Advantage Rent a car. I reserved a car specific dates in May of 2014. They changed the dates to the date I made the reservation. I was not going to be in Minneapolis till 7 days later. They would not allow me to change the reservation and at that I will have to pay the $159.00. NEVER use this company when you have several options in Minneapolis.

Beware of Advantage Rent a car. If you read the reviews on review sites, you will see that a lot of people have had very negative experiences.

Poorest service ever encountered by a company! Stood in line 1 hour for reserved car. 30 customers waiting for cars. 2 agents in no hurry to wait on anyone. Giving everyone same 15 min. sales pitch: managers special to upgrade to bigger car, blah blah blah, (no), you need to pick fuel plan (No) more pressure, you need insurance (I bought insurance), it's not with us so it's no good! Ours is $200 how much did you pay? (What the ... NO. Just give me the car I reserved.) YOU know you will be leaving here with NO insurance!! Initial here,here,and here that you have refused our offers. AND again YOU will be leaving with NO coverage. (Me: look at this line of people! What a lousy way to run a business!) Miss Advantage-"We are the cheapest in the business so they will wait!
Frustrating, repulsive,unprofessional, rip off... DON'T USE THIS COMPANY-EVER.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. NEVER AGAIN. THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER COMPANIES THAT ARE A PLEASURE TO USE!

DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM ADVANTAGE!!!! I wish there was a negative rating because this company doesn't even deserve one star. First, they never tell you when you make the reservation that you need an extra $200 deposit. I originally made the reservation online which was $32. After arriving at Advantage in Denver, the clerk told me that an additional $200 deposit would need to be taken off this card. Well, because they hadn't given me any warning, I didn't have an extra $200 on that card. After asking if they could put it on a different card, the clerk and supervisor told me they are unable to split charges after you prepay on an online reservation. Umm WHAT?!?!?!?! Since it was 8:00 pm on a Saturday, and I was 800 miles from home I had no way to put more money in that account. After sitting in the waiting room for 30 minutes trying to figure something out I went back and asked to be given the number of the public transportation. The clerk told me that I could cancel the reservation and make a new one so that all charges would be on one card. I unfortunately made this decision and got my car. After returning it and calling the 1-800 number the clerk gave me for the reservation, the agent, who was most likely from India, told me that they couldn't refund my original reservation because I had canceled within the 24 hour period of when the reservation was. WHAT? I ONLY CANCELED BECAUSE YOU COULDNT CHARGE MY OTHER CARD!!!!! This blew my mind because not only did the clerk tell me this was a foul proof way, but the agent actually told me I should of read the Terms and Conditions when making the reservation because it was all explained there. I was livid at this point and demanded to talk with a supervisor who apologized and said that he would forward the issue to corporate and they would call me within 4 business days to discuss the refund. It is now 15 days later and after calling back twice I still have not received any type of refund!!! This is by far the worst car rental company and I would not recommend it to my worst enemy! How can you have such a faulty system that does not allow customers to split the charges and then have employees scam me out of a refund? Not to mention how much the taxes are and everything else they throw on last minute.

At the LAX airport Advantage Rent A Car, agency, the agent assured me that, if I pre-paid for a tank of fuel, that I would be credited for the amount of fuel in the tank when I returned the car. Well, that's simply not true, and inquires to the agency have gone unanswered.

Also, the agent wrote the wrong parking space on my contract, so I wasted an hour loading my gear into the wrong car and then re-loading it into the correct car.

Since this is the second time I've had major hassles with this agency, they'll never see me again.
