Strength:

Rarely "snapped" into high performance spells, but they were too few and far in between

Weakness:

Moody, inconsistent, often bad enough to keep the engine from starting at all. Poor gas milage, more difficult to tune than the Edelbrock, and will not hold it's tune like the Edelbrock will

Bought it with my Wieand Intake combo kit from Summit. Ended up replacing it with an Edelbrock 600 #1406, and I picked up 3 MPG, and it made it more consistent. That Holley ran better than the Edelbrock 5% of the time, but the rest of the time it ran poorly and inconsistently. Unless you really like tuning carbs every time you drive the vehicle, then ditch this one for an Edelbrock!

Edelbrock, the campion of street-driven carbuertors, and the only carb on earth that isn't better than a Holley-Motorcraft.

Strength:

Cheaper than Edelbrock

Weakness:

Can''t find old ford tranny kickdown kits.

Bought the 600cfm model, had problems finding accessories for older ford applications. Tougher to maintain.

Model Reviewed: 66/Ford Mustang

Strength:

The Holley 4160 is a great carb for the price. The auto choke model I have makes starting an easy task and the vacuum secondaries give a very streetable drive to any classic. The 600 CFM flow feeds my small block Ford well and really gives it the punch I wanted.

Weakness:

The electronic choke is great for that cold start, but for warm starts it makes it harder because you need to hold the pedal down to get the gas to flow.

I recommend this carb to anyone that is looking for good streetable performance. It's very easy to tune and the silver coating on it really cleans up any engine compartment. I got mine from Summit Racing as part of a Carb/Manifold kit that included a dual plane Edelbrock. Saved a few bucks on the combo.

Similar Products Used:

I upgraded from a stock Autolite 2100 carb, no comparison. The 4bbl is obviously better than the 2bbl.
