Strength:

looks good, aggressive

Weakness:

worked for a few weeks and died.

I purchased the autogage tach with external shift light. Worked great for about a week, then the needle just bounces. it is no longer functional for the purpose that i bought it for. i now have an expensive decorative dash light that comes on at anytime from 1200 rpms to who knows. A friend purchased one about a week after i did at a different store and has the same problems. Both store said it is my ground but we have changed the ground several times and it still bounces the needle. The store said it is out of warranty and they will sell another one to us. Yeah right, give me 3 of them.

Strength:

improved accuracy.

Weakness:

it's just a tach, nothing to complain about.

non-enthusiast might find it tacky and unnecesary though. =/

if you're a drag racer you might find it useful--otherwise it doesn't do much for you. it was installed by the previous owner and i haven't the time to bother taking it off. it has a shift light that lights up at the desired rpm but i find it a nuisance. i set it to 9000rpm so it never comes on (haha). the thing is mounted on the pillar on the left side of the car so i never bother looking there. i keep my eyes on the stock dash + console. one good thing is that it is more accurate. for driving around town you'll find no deviation or fluxuation but at the higher rev i notice up to a ~500rpm difference between the oem gauge and the autometer. its good if you race and want to know the exact speed of the engine. for me i dont really care for it. a good buy if you're into that kind of stuff.
