This is a great intake system. You can tell that it is made very well. the intake makes a low but loud tone, and screams when VTEC kicks in. Great intake.

Strength:

-Looks nice in the engine bay -Gives a few more HP -Remove the resonator for cooler air -Cool whistle while accel. (had friends think it was a turbo...lol) -Sounds like a racing motor when you floor it! -Better than generic (you get all parts, a few extras, specially coated inside pipe for better airflow, and High Quality AEM lubed filter -Get all I/H/E for max gasmileage/HP

Weakness:

-May have to scoot the battery over to make room for the big filter -Sometimes requires bending/relocating an A/C line that is in the way (I just put a nice rubber pad around it and set the intake on top)

I purchased the Chrome style AEM Ram Air Intake for my 98 Honda Accord EX 4cyl. I'm going for the basic I/H/E setup to get better gas mileage. I currently have a Tsudo Cat-Back Fireball Exhaust system and the AEM RAI. I have seen about a 20 more miles per tank increase. My exaust system is fairly loud so you can only hear the intake when you start climbing a hill or acclerate moderatly. It makes that little whistling sound. Also the engine now goes "WHAAAA" instead of "VRMMMMM" when you get on it, if you know what i mean... lol The HP increses are probibly minimal. I noticed a small difference but remember its just a pipe and a filter. When I was installing my intake i also removed the resonator (witch is not required). This will allow some more air to travel into the engine bay near the filter so cooler air will enter. Installation was fairly easy. Took me about 3 hrs (because i removed the resonator witch requires removing the front bumper). I would say that I work fairly slow because i'm very careful about damaging anything else. Also to get better gas mileage reset your ECU while installing this. First you disconnect the battery (both terminals). Then remove the Hazard fuse located in the engine bay area. When you are done installing the intake, replace the fuse and connect the battery. Then start the car and let it IDLE for 10 minutes. This will reconfigure your cars Air/Fuel ratios. Don't touch the gas while its doing that. Then shut it off and start back up, your ready to go!

Looks Cool. Sounds Cool. Cheap Price.

Weakness:

Performance Gains are minimal.

The Short Ram looks good in the engine compartment and sounds pretty cool, but performance gains are fairly minimal. The installation instructions were not incredibly helpful, but the installation was fairly easy none-the-less. A good buy for the price.

Strength:

Versatility Sound Reusable Filter element Under hood asthetics

Weakness:

Application Specific Cold-air intake surpasses the Short Ram performance wise but is much less versitile.

Short Ram intakes are generally more versitile than their cold-air brethren. They really don't have to be as application specific as a cold-air intake and offer an excellent choice for Engine Swaps. I Initially bought my AEM Short Ram intake for a 1992 JDM Prelude Si, after crashing that car into a guard rail at a local track event the Intake was still undamaged, and so it sat in my garage for a couple of months until I found a new project car. A 1993 Honda Civic EX with a D16Z6. I had to cut the final 90 degree elbow off to make it fit correctly and overtighten the fastener at the throttle body but it worked well for the Civic for a good six months. When I finally ditched the D16Z6 for a B18C1 the AEM Short Ram intake still fit perfectly with no further modifications besides loosening the tightner at the throttle body. The AEM Short Ram intake makes even a stock exhaust sound excellent after VTEC is enguaged giving you the perception of more power. I will not comment however on horsepower numbers or torque only because I don't consider myself qualified to do so, with that said I am sure that both numbers are up slightly in all the engines that I experimented on.

Looks cool, the filter looks "jacked", but it's obviously all fo' sho'

Weakness:

I bought this because I wanted some gain in power. This thing actually shot my hp by like 3 or 4! I recently had a "performance muffler" put on, which saved the whole car, since it added a solid 3-4 pony's. With the intake, the car runs like it used to. I'm mad disappointed.
