Model Reviewed: Getaway 4 bike

Strength:

Incredibly strong. Very versatile as it is spring loaded and drops down to allow rear door access, even with four bikes on. Bikes are held firmly and the frames are cushioned.

Weakness:

Needs a length of top tube on each bike.

It will last forever

Strength:

Very sturdy (I don't think twice about my bikes when their locked in my Yakima Getaway).Quick to put on and take off. I think it would work well with aluminum frame bikes as well, since you can turn the top half of the clamping mechanism to raise or lower it for a tight/loose fit.

Weakness:

I agree it's a little heavy, but I can handle it.

I like the design of this product, it works well with a Toyota 4Runner for accessibility. I love the security of the locking capability of the rack handcrank and the bicycles themselves. Looking forward to getting a hold of the Plus 2 accessory.

Can't remember what brands, but I've had both a roof rack and trunk rack before this hitch rack, and by far I like this one the best. Easier than lifting the bikes all the way on top, and more secure

Strength:

The rack is built as heavy as you could ask for. With the four bike extension, you should be able to carry pretty much any bike. The lockable feature is nice to secure your bike when away from the vehicle. The hitch mount is nice because it is always a tight fit.

Weakness:

Extremely heavy. Little difficult to let down when no bikes on it. Lubrication is the answer though.

You would think something better might come along with improvements. Is recommended but be warned it is very heavy and that makes it difficult to put on and remove. Not for the faint of heart.

If money isnt an object and you have no problem with the added couple of feet extension to your vehicle, it is an great rack.

Strength:

Sturdy

Weakness:

Where do I start?? If you do not have bikes on the rack it is very hard to fold down. If you are carring 4 bikes the rack is very heavy to fold up. Even when folded down the bikes are still just hanging in front of the back of the car. And this is a very very expensive rack for what you get as with all yakima products.

Nice idea

Strength:

Very stable, well built.

Weakness:

Clamp will crush aluminum top tubes. Bikes too close together, making it difficult to carry a girl's bike with a men's bike

This rack is not worth the trouble for me. I can't carry my aluminum bike, and it is awkward for my daughter's 20" and my son's full size mountain bikes.

Although it is well made, I would prefer something more versitile. I will get a Draftmaster next time.
