Strength:

Great cornering and road feel

Weakness:

Wear a bit faster than other tires I had

This is a super tire forthe money. Rides smooth and sticks well in rain and dry conditions. The Yokohamas I had previously we probubaly stiffer in the side wall but also cost twice as much.

Strength:

Excellent cornering. Good value. Durable.

Weakness:

Freakin' nasty in snow. (Trust me)

I love this tire. However, this is the first "performance" tire I have owned. I bought 205/50/15s and mounted them on AM Carreras. A semi-low profile tire (around these parts low is not recommended). They are excellent on dry pavement and very good on wet asphalt. I love these tires cause I can take corners like you wouldnt believe (esp. 180 degree offramps). My chassis will bottom out before these tires give (and I have a pretty good suspension setup - no lowering either). I can feel the tires begin to break loose in fast corners but its a controlled breaking. Cant really comment on traction "off-the-line" (Civics arent known for their horses).

Strength:

-Low noise -Good Handling -Reasonable price for Z rated tire

Weakness:

-Keep them out of the snow -Tire wear not the best

Its hard for me to write this review and be objective with this tire. The problem is that I''ve only used them on my 2000 Audi 1.8T Quattro. Since I''ve never driven the car with anything else, I don''t know what to compare them to. These tires were part of the so called ''sport handling'' package that came with the car. The Audi handles awesome in wet or dry, but I don''t know how much of that is attributable to the car or tires. One thing I can say is that the tread life was a little lacking in my view, but then again I''ve never had Z rated tires before. I drive the car hard on weekend bonzai trips, but have never used the tires on a closed track. So, my dilemma now is, do I replace these tires with the same, or try something different? Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Strength:

Cheap price.
Decent grip in dry and wet weather.
Ok tire wear

Weakness:

They lack feel and responsiveness.
Horible grip in snow but then again I do have a Mustang ;)

For 225/50/16 = $85 per tire I can't complain too much. My next tire will be the Firehawk SZ50. My friend has them on his Mustang GT and they are so much better at everything except price = $140 per tire, ouch...
This tire is good if you are on a budget like me (colege student). But if you are looking for an all out performace tire, look somewhere else. This tire is not good for racing. It lacks too many racing values like predictable sliding, responsiveness, grip. A better racing tire will be BFGoodrich T/A comp tire as they are much more predictable. Price for them is about $120 for 225/50/16.

Excellent Traction Wet and Dry,Very resonable Price

Weakness:

None

For the money you can not buy a better tire.Lots of grip wet and dry. Gradual break-away and good tread life. After track use very little wear(considering the activity)
Newer Bridgestones,Yokohamas etc. are probably a lot better, but at their price they are really in a different category. Ride is a little stiff but that’s why turn in is so good.

Strength:

Nothing.

Weakness:

Numb steering feel, poor traction.

If you care at all about your car's handling, I would not recommend these tires. I bought them on the recommendation of a Tire Rack rep, and felt pretty confident about the purchase because so many people seem to like them. I was extremely disappointed when I got them. Tha tread pattern is not at all aggressive, the shoulders are rounded, and the tires just don't stick. Aside from the poor handling, you don't feel at all connected to the road. To top it off, they break away quickly, which is unusual for a tire with low traction limits. PLEASE give me back my old tires.

Strength:

price, grip

Weakness:

I paid $200 per tire for the 235/40ZR-18. But this size is no longer available.

This tire is highly recommended. It has reasonable price, more than enough grip (wet or dry). I've tried the BFGoodrich Comp T/A ZR tires (different size) before, it is a good tire, but lacks the grip, which it gains on comfort. In comparison between the two, it is clear that if you're looking for performance and road feel, consider the SP8000; but if you want comfort and don't want the noise, consider the BFGoodrich Comp T/A ZR. I think Michelin Pilots MXX3s are excellent in grip, but wears poorly. I'd say buy the MXX3 if price is not a concern. Pirellis PZero compares to the MXX3s, but again, if price is no concern. Same goes for the Bridgestone Potenza S-02. Pirelli P7000 are decent tires also, but the Dunlop SP8000 is just hard to beat.

The Potenza S-02, Michelin MXX3, Pirelli PZero,s are different class performance tires comparing to the SP8000 and Comp T/A. They are for your review in case you decide to shell out a bit more money for more performance.

Oh, almost forgot to tell you; if you're looking at Dunlop's own SP Sport 9000, seriously consider buying the SP Sport 8000 because it has better grip on drive pavements. The SP Sport 9000 grips a bit better on wet pavements. If you live in California like I do, definitely go for the SP Sports 8000 (for less money too)!

Strength:

Good grip, excellent value, even wear

Weakness:

Longevity, road noise.

For a 245/45-16 tire, there isn't much selection in the $100 to $150 range, but at $109/ea my Sp8000 were surprisingly good tires. I mention longevity in the review, but it's not the tire's fault. None of the 9000 miles I got out of these tires were easy miles. They included 15 autocrosses, roughly 75+ runs, as well as daily commuting.

I'll agree with the earlier review about them handling well at high speeds. I still felt firmly planted to the freeway at over 150mph, and still ran an autox the same day. I would be curious how these compare to SO2 Pole Positions, but at more than double the price, the BF Goodrich's are a bit overpriced.

This tire is excellent for someone looking for the most grip for their tire dollar.

Very good performance tire dry/wet. Very predictable dry/wet. Cheap.

Weakness:

Maybe the newer tires last longer.

Used for autocrossing and only the guys with slicks beat me by a few seconds. Compared to the RE-71, it's about the same in the dry, but in the rain it's alot better. Lasted me 14,000 mi. of very hard driving.
