Dunlop SP Sport 9000 Tires

Dunlop SP Sport 9000 Tires

DESCRIPTION

While others are coming up for air, the SP Sport 9000's HydroMaxTM traction system redefines wet performance. HydroMax is an ingenious combination of water shedding tread pattern design, wet grip compounding and radial construction that will revolutionize your driving in the wet or dry. HydroMax technology allows you to carve precise turns in wet conditions, charge through sudden downpours, and still swoosh the interstate with quiet grace. Available in 15-20 inch sizes.

Strength:

Excellent overall road-holding in dry.

Weakness:

Be grand-dad in the rain or take an extra life-insurance.

Very Good grip in dry weather conditions (at least if you stay out of 1th gear. Has more to do with the brutal Maserati engine I guess). Excellent road-holding till over 250 km/h (155 mph) Wet roads are to be feared: Then the Torsen differential needs to work all the time. If the pedal is floored in 3th gear at 120 km/h (75 mph) the Dunlops instantly loose grip and you turn into an off-road rally driver (makes life interesting).

Strength:

Handles really well on both dry and wet pavement. Very responsive at moderate and high speeds. Sharp styling.

Weakness:

Snow.

Replaced OE 15" rims with TSW 17" rims. Selected the SP Sport9000 (215/40/17). Love these tires. I love the way this tire looks.

Bridgestone Potenza (OE) - very similar, but prefer the SP9000 BF Goodrich (crap - used two separate times, same problem both times - will never consider again)

Strength:

Sticky, seems to stick as well in the wet... maybe thats just my AWD, Low cost, Excelent look

Weakness:

A bit low on traction when they are first new because the V tred is tall and each tred bends over a bit when you turn hard atleast with an AWD, after a good drive the tires get Scared up on the tread, yet never damage the side walls

Excelent Tire, Those high end performance cars give me a good finger after a long windy road of my stuck to their bumper and them trying to pull :)

Strength:

Endless wet traction and braking ability. I can't get them to break loose shy of a life-threatening move.

Weakness:

None. I love them.

I think these are stunning tires. On the highway at 75 they are as quiet as can be and I find the ride smoother that the stock nonsense that comes on most cars. My AudiA6 2.7T came with Goodyears and I had the dealer swap me with an A6 that had the Dunlops. The difference was night and day.

Strength:

Nothing except comfort.

Weakness:

Slippery, wet and/or Sandy roads are a real problem. Unless you like drift, these tires may suit you.

This tire has not been impressive as the Good Year F1 GSD-2's I had previously on my car. These tires are so expensive that it makes me wonder why they don't perform better. Cornering is allright but if you take a turn too fast, you will loose control very quickly which is something I had never experienced with any other tire.

Strength:

Low coast-by noise & comfortable.

Weakness:

For a directional tyre, it''s particularly disappointing in the wet.

SP9000, sadly, has nothing to commend is save its low coast-by noise, which is hardly enough to endear it to drivers concerned more with performance and safety.

Higher recommended Goodyear F1 GSD-2

Comfortably.

Poor handling in wet.

Dunlop SP 9000 doesn''t set high performance levels. Poor handling balance in wet condition. Performance loss in the wet is about 60-70% after using half.

Strength:

Dry performance! Wet performance! Great tread life. Rim flange to protect the rims.

Weakness:

A bit pricey, but the tires last and handle well so this isn''t so bad.

Kick ass wet traction. Stick like glue in the dry. I was giving consideration to increasing the dia of my rear sway bar to reduce the understeer. Changing the tires was all that was required. Now I can go down on ramps in torrential rain as fast as I could with the OE on damp pavement. I have a ''98 Integra GS-R and these tires would do a Type-R proud! I''ve rated these with 5''s across the board -- I really like these tires.

The worst tires I have ever used. Bad handling in wet & raining condition! I had spun a few times during a small corner at 75kmh in wet condition, danger. I had to change it even still new, now i''m using Goodyear F1 GSD-2(tire shop recomanded) & solve the problem!
