Strength:

Great handling & responsiveness, smooth ride, very quiet. But greatest strenths are it's wet traction and tread wear. Handled wet roads like they were DRY -- never slipped or skidded ONCE with these tires, and I push them. Never seen tires that took the demands of my style of driving as well as these do. No other tire has come even close to lasting as long -- they just don't wear out.

Weakness:

Zero.

Have them on my Celica GT-S. These are the best set of tires I have ever had on my car, and I have gone through a number of different tires. I drive fast and aggresive, and these tires stop on a dime, accelerate quickly, corner unbelievably well, and keep asking for more. I was as surprised as anyone else that Firestone made these tires. I was relucant to get them at first for this reason, but now these are the only tires I will ever get for my car. To top it all off, the price is incredibly low for the great performance these tires offer, especially if you find a "buy 3, get 1 free" deal like I did.

Strength:

I replaced a set of Toyo Proxes T1's that had badly cupped (most likely due to wrong spring/shock setup) with the SH30's The Proxes were too much tire for this car and made the Subaru darty on uneven pavement.(tire size was 205-55-15, rather than the stock 195-60-15 of the SH30's) The car also has upgraded springs and shocks. The SH30's have really relaxed the steering to the point where the car is relaxing to drive again. Wet grip is as advertised (unflappable). They are relatively quiet, the ride is good, dry weather traction is pretty good for this type of tire. (No where near that of a Proxes TI) Since the car is not a race car anyway, this is an acceptable compromise. I did notice a small vibe at certain speeds, and think it is most likely the balance job done by the installer.

Weakness:

None so far in my mind. Too early to tell how they will hold up.

I paid $416 Cdn before taxes (about $282 USD) installed and balanced. To my surprise, this came with one year free roadside assistance, lifetime tire rotation, one free oil change and a 30 day satisfaction or exchange policy. Size was a 195-60-15. I think it might be a good time to buy Firestone tires despite the bad press.

Strength:

Nice looking, and they are pretty good in the rain and while turning.

Weakness:

WAY TOO MUCH sidewall flex causes the car, in most cases, to feel incredibly unstable.

I do not recommend these, or any other firestone tires, to anyone. I bought them because I was on a low budget and needed year-round tires. I mounted two on the rear of my car, and as soon as I did, the car became completely unstable at high speeds. Changing lanes over 50mph created unsettling forceback. I then switched them to the front, and while the forceback was eliminated, the car now suffers from understeer. I believe it is mainly due to too much sidewall flex of the tires. I only wish they were the ones being recalled, because it is too late for me to return them. My advice, in all honesty, avoid firestone.

Strength:

Nothing. I have (soon to be "had") these tires on my Lexus ES300. After about 9 months - 6 months of high speed highway driving - the rear tires became unbelievably noisy. When I had the Firestone dealer check them I was informed that they had cupped. They blamed the struts. I spoke to a mechanic I trust, the local Toyata dealer and the Lexus dealer - all of whom advised me that they "never" recommend Firestone tires and all 3 specifically recommended another tire. I previously ran Dunlop and Bridgestone and never encountered problems. Firestone has seen the last of my business!!

Weakness:

None

Got a 4 for the price of 3 deal - what a bargain!!

Strength:

Fairly quiet, great rain traction (it's about all we've had this winter) both straight on and laterally, good response to steering input.

Weakness:

Slightly rough ride although a HUGE improvement over the stock GT+4's.

Installed a set of four SH30's on my 1994 GrandAm GT Coupe around 3-4 months ago and have been extremely happy. They are such a significant improvement over the Eagle GT+4s that came with the vehicle that I can only assume the Eagles are just terrible tires. Although the Eagles where laterally very stiff (which contributed to truly scary cornering ability) they were ultra harsh and noisy.

The SH30s are quiet and relatively smooth. Steering response is top notch and cornering is very predictable throughout any turn. I have had them out in a couple of huge rainstorms and experienced no hydroplaning and never lost traction. Not much help on snow performance as we have had only rain but the couple of times I have had them on the snow they seem to grip fairly well - the wide shoulder sipes help. They are not as laterally stiff as the Eagles but they still corner as well and the grip is excellent.

I would highly recommend these tires especially if you can find a good sale. I bought them at the Firestone just before the end of the year and paid around $400 installed with full road hazard, rotation, balancing, etc. Also a great mileage rating for a performance tire - time will tell.

STRONG TRACTION ALL AROUND THEY WEAR EVENLY AND ARE QUIET
EXCEP UNDER HARD BRAKING, THEY HAVE 40K ON THEM AND ARE
IN THERE HALF LIFE. MY LAST TIRES WERE FLAT ONCE A WEEK.

Weakness:

THEY TEND TO FEATHER A LITTLE ON THE FRONT OF FRONT WEEL DRIVE CARS.

I WOULD RECCOMEND THIS PRODUCT TO MY ELDERLY MOTHER
IN FACT I WOULD MOUNT AND BALLANCE THEM MY SELF.

Strength:

Thusfar have noticed improvement in steering response and cornering control. Performed best at high speed (?) above 50 mph; made my Honda Accord feel a bit like a racing car at 70 mph. OK wet traction thusfar and OK snow handling though I do feel a little slip, but if you just need to get by until the plow comes through then they performed well; otherwise, I guess snow tires or I wonder about Toyo, BFGOODRICH, or Michelin MXV4+. Overall, sporty and quick to get up to speed.

Weakness:

A little bumpy ride until higher speed and picks up expansion joints on highway pretty poorly. Slight slippage on packed snow but overall grip is good with good lateral siping. The Diagonal siping is supposed to prevent hydroplaning - have not experienced hard wet cornering or driving yet. I'll let you know if I do.

Paid $70 each and managed to get buy 3, 1 free, at Firestone Store. Actually comes out to same at Tirerack, even without deal because Tirerack 60+5 shipping then local places charge 15 each for mounting not including parts because not buying tires at their garage. Tirerack isn't necessarily cheaper when all is said and done. And many discount stores will even meet Tirerack prices. And I would also question their customer service who wanted me to buy Michelin MXV4+ or Turanza Revos - they were the most expensive in the categories I looked in....SH30 was one of cheapest and they told me to stay away. It's all about the $ - don't trust JD Power either.

Bridgestone Turanza Revo (H) - smoooooth ride but horrible snow traction and slow to get up to speed - felt like driving a stiff old mercedes for steering; Questioned tread design for preventing hydroplaning and bite.

A bit pricey at Firestone. I recommend buying them online at Tirerack.com

Strength:

Great overall traction. Superb wet traction. Cornering is a snap. Long life for a performance tire.

Weakness:

a little rough.

I put a set of 205/60/15 on my 91 Nissan 240SX and they are great tires. They grab like no other tire I have driven on, and have a long treadwear life. The harder rubber compound may sacrifice a small amount gription (my word, but they'll take the abuse if you drive them hard like I do.
I love to take tight corners and push the tires as far as I can, but they never let out a sound. Most tires squeal to let you know its too much, not the Firestone SH30's. The ride is a bit tight, but remember, they are performance tires. You have to give a little comfort for more performance.

I am about to buy my second set of SH30's for my Honda. I have 71,000 miles on the first set and they still could go another 5000, but why chance it. These tires have worn very evenly when rotating them every 8000 miles (every other oil change). They still handle in water today just as they did when new. I find they are a little noisy as they got about 50,000 on them in curving roads, but they still handled great.
