Strength:

handeling in wet and dry road conditions is outstanding, wide range of sizes, long wearing, low road noise and all at a terificaly low price

Weakness:

what?

this is my 2nd set of futura gls tires. the 1st set were purchased for my 740 turbo volvo. somewhere in between those full sets I also bought pairs for the 69 mustang coupe and 69 mach1 that my son and I are rebuilding. like is not strong or descriptive enough for these tires. the tires have out-performed the goodyears and michlens that i''ve used in the past. outstanding handeling, road grip in dry and wet roads is only mached by higher rated and more expensive brands.

Similar Products Used:

comparable tires from other brands are much more expensive and sizes are not always available.

AWESOME AWESOME TIRES! I use 265/50's and 225/50's on my truck. I used to use BFGoodrich (which are also great tires in my opinion). The Futura GLS's are VERY HARD to beat! They cost me half the price of the BFG's and they have lasted well more than twice as long! Mine handle great in all weather and I have not had any problems with road noise, picking up nails/screws in the road, or anything. The average cost of my tires were $55/ea and they have lasted me three years. When you add the cost of balancing and road hazard warranty, the price still gets you under $100/ea easily.
I have gone to the same brand Futura tires on my wife's vehicle and they drive alot smoother than the factory Michelins. I highly recommend for anyone just for performance reasons. I especially recommend for drivers that don't like to spend alot for their tires, but still want something that will "go the distance". (This would also be an excellent choice for parents that want a safe set of tires, but don't want to spend alot on their teenager's car.) There ARE cheaper priced tires out there if you don't want to spend alot, but I believe that the majority of them are also very cheaply made or don't offer as long of a tread wear warranty.

Strength:

Tread life, quality of rubber (no dry rot or cracking), very functional tread pattern.

Weakness:

Minor hydroplaning of front tires in heavy rain. (Simple fix is to SLOW DOWN!)Not as grippy in the tight turns.

While in the Marine Corps and low on cash I needed tires for my truck. I thought I was lowering myself to a Futura brand going from Michelins, but was I ever wrong. These tires were superb in tread life, noise and handling... I can't tell you how long exactly the tires lasted because they outlived my truck, after a blown motor at 85,000 miles, I swapped the engine and sold the vehicle all the while still having the same set of Futura's on it. I later bought a '95 Ford T-Bird and at 14,000 miles installed another set of Futura Super Sports on it. At 78,000 miles I blew a head gasket and traded the car in still wearing the Futura's. I currently own a Suburban with Futura truck tires, a Jeep with 31" Futura Adventurer tires, and a 2000 Mustang... which will soon need Futura tires, with incredible tread life and highly reliable road feel, I have yet to find a better tire for the buck.

Similar Products Used:

Michelin, Dunlop, BFG, Goodyear Eagle... no comparison in tread life, slightly harder compound, Futura's not as "grippy"... but far outvalue the competitiors for over all satisfaction.

These tires are great. I am 16, and I bought a 1970 Rebel SST about a year ago. I drove it for a while with the tires the car already had on it (Goodyear radials) which were fairly new, but the car always seemed to have sluggish acceleration and the traction wasn't very good. I decided to invest in some inexpensive tires, but I wanted them to last. I purchased the Futura Super Sport GLS's, and I just have to say that my car feels awesome! The acceleration, handling, traction, and all around performance of my car has improved. I was amazed with both wet and dry traction. They were exactly what I was looking for and they were a great deal. I really think these tires are a good bang for your buck.

Model Reviewed: 85 Monte Carlo SS

Strength:

Cornering ability, maximum inflation (44 psi).

Weakness:

Acceleration, braking. Slipage was slightly easier than with BFG Radial T/A's.

Overall they were very good tires. The price wasn't outstanding, but not bad. They lasted nearly two years of spirited driving, including numerous acceleration, braking and cornering tests. ;) They could have lasted longer, had I not used so much pressure for so long. (The middles got bald first).

Compared to the Radial T/A's, from BF Goodrich, in the same size (235/60/15's), they had *better cornering* capabilites. With these tires on the front, the car was very balanced, (BFG's on rear). With these tires on the rear, the rear was rock solid, (BFG's on front), i.e. it understeered).

Similar Products Used:

SS20 Firehawks (#1 I've heard), BF Goodrich Radial T/A's (#2 or #3), Dunlop Radial GT's (#4, I've heard, but not confirmed)
