Strength:

Good looking, a great value, long tread life, strong cornering, excellent mud/snow traction and good wet traction on front drive vehicles.

Weakness:

Rear drive vehicle owners need to choose a different tire. A tire with a tread wear number of over 400 has more difficulty griping in wet conditions than a tire with a tread wear of around 200. You exchange tread life for a "stickier-softer" rubber. Remember, you can't have both!

These tires work excellent for my needs. I drive aggressively in a large-heavy car. The Eagle GT II grips great when cornering and is GOOD in wet conditions (on a front wheel drive car). If you have a rear-drive vehicle, get a tire with a lower tread wear number. Remember, long tread life and EXCELLENT wet traction are mutually exclusive... you can't have both. They are particularly good in mud and snow. I go camping frequently and had to climb a muddy mountain road. The wheeles never broke loose.

Strength:

Like I said before, they are a great looking tire. They also have decent dry handling, and are quiet at highway speeds.

Weakness:

Almost no traction, wet or dry! They hydroplane badly! The first time I drove with them in a rainstorm, I thought I was going to end up in the ditch. I was going 35 to 40 mph at the time. This could be becuse of the 275 width, but I found it to be a very scary driving experience. They are probably better for a FWD vehicle, something with weight on the drive wheels.

They are a great looking tire, but that''s where I draw the line. The stock tire size on this truck is 275/60/17. I would not recommend this tire for a truck at all! I have a few performance modifications on the truck, and they break loose with the pedal only pressed about halfway. I have to drive a little slower than I normally would to keep out of dangerous situations.

Yokahama AVS S/T''s. Noisy as heck, but much better wet traction and resist hydroplaning much more effectively!

Good traction in wet a dry weather, very quite, even when leaving trails of smoke, long life when treated right.

Weakness:

Burn off quick, they're slippery when htey get hot

http://ist05.ma.psu.edu/~cbj110/xtreme.mpg let me know what you think, drmrex@hotmail.com all and all I liked these tires, they came stock with my truck, they handle pretty well, but they can get slipper in the rain, one example: I was crousing around with my friends and we were doing 4 wheel slides around turns, not the smartest of ideas, i had it perfect so i decided to carry it, i recoverd, but as soon as they got hot they were like riding on ice.

Strength:

Never had a flat or a slow leak...that's commendable!

Weakness:

bad grip on wet roads or going through a puddle, noisy ride.

Not a good tire at all. Replaced old Goodrich Touring TAs 215/65R15s with these (original tires), what a mistake. Didn't realize till the last year or so that these tires were the cause of poor grip in wet weather, I thought it was my 92 GMC Sonoma truck. Also noisy and the ride wasn't the best. Extremely long stopping on dry pavement...replace them with Firestone FT70Cs which for my money may be the best tires I've ever had, car or truck, smooth ride, great stopping, and absolutely no slipping and sliding on wet roads.

Strength:

wear, traction in any weather, looks

Weakness:

not much

The tire was pretty cheap and offered respectable handling in any type of weather. They have driven through snow storms, white out downpours, and just about everything else without a problem. It's speed rating is only S or T (depending on size) although it did fine and was very stable at 143MPH. (yes, looking back that was pretty dumb)
It isn't a high performance tire though and although it's sidewall is pretty small, it doesn't come in a true low profile. It doesn't squeel too much but it will when you need it to, and it's road noise isn't too bad on highways either.
But the biggest thing is that I drive pretty hard and have put 50,000 miles on them, and they still have some tread left. I am replacing them this week with some higher performance tires, along with 17 inch rims.
Since it does make a differnce, I have a Mazda MX-6 V6. Which is a very light car sports car with 170HP on the front wheels.
If I wasn't going to 17" rims or planning to race at all, I would definitely buy these tires again.

Strength:

Superb handling in wet weather. Rarely deflated in cold weather. Highly durable tread wear. Great feel in 'spirited' driving over 85mph.

Weakness:

Pricing kept creeping up year after year. Last time was at $130/tire. Goodyear would not offer mileage warranty with them. I used up 2.5 sets in 75k miles.

Superb handling in wet weather. Stayed/felt close to the road in bad conditions. Tread wear was durable. Tread also looked very sporty.

I'd recommend it for those with fastback type vehicles or sporty/sports cars who may not want to pay through the nose for Yokohamas et al.

Not worth it for sedans/sub-compacts type. Go for Goodyear GA type tires.

Similar Products Used:

Pirelli P44 and Goodyear GT-4. No comparision to the Pirellis. Outdid them. The GT-4 was the factory tire on the vehicle, but they were difficult to find, pricey, and would seem to wear out quicker.

Strength:

It's a great-looking tire. It offers great handling in wet and dry conditions. They held up well in the blistering Dallas Texas heat. A much better ride than standard issue General Tires. Goodyear was one of the few manufacturers that had the 295/65/16 size I was looking for.

Weakness:

No warranty on performance rated tires, according to Indp. Goodyear dealer. 1st tire was slightly out of round, but I had it replaced by that dealer. Goodyear/Gemini wouldn't touch them because I didn't buy them, from a true Goodyear dealer.

$500.00 for a set including mount & balance. I'd recommend them. They were available in raised white letters, but I felt that was a "country" move, so I opted for the black walls out to further accent the chrome rims, and low-profile look I was going for. The vehicle rode smoother, and even though I have 40 mm more rubber on the road on each corner, hydro-planning has not been a problem. I have driven through 2-3 inch deep water in spots and haven't noticed the tail end stepping out once. For a car, I'd recommend Dunlop's over the Goodyears. But on a truck, Goodyear get's my vote. You can keep your Michelin's and Pirelli Scorpions!

Dunlop did offer a warranty, and both were improvements over stock issue, even when one vehicle had Eagle RSA's as standard equipment. (Maxima SE)
