Strength:

Good dry handling, not bad in the rain, good price, good looks. Great wear resistance.

Weakness:

Doesn't live up to M+S rating, because they are awful in snow.

I don't think they're as bad as everyone has said, though that may be a function of tire size. It could be that 195-50-15's hold on better than other sizes. I found them to be a HUGE improvement over stock, but that's probably because my original tires were 155-80-13's. I have a lowered suspension and strut tower brace on my car, and these coupled with the Nittos add up to a very satisfying handling experience.
They are essentially worthless in snow, but I haven't had any problems in rain (other than wheelspin on standing starts). Dry grip is rather impressive.
Next time, I will probably buy different tires, just because I think a bit sharper turn-in and ultimate grip would be possible with Yoko's or Kumhos.

Strength:

Wear - 30,000 miles of spirited, four-season driving
Look - lots of complements
Price - among the cheapest in 195/50-15

Weakness:

Low noise threshold - they'll squeal in everyday situations you wouldn't expect.
Squirrelly on the limit - they let you know when they're approaching the end of their grip with plenty of squeal (great for average drivers), but go beyond that, and they can bite you. I've had the back end of the car step out unexpectedly under braking in "sprited" driving. If you're an autocrosser considering this tire for Street Touring S, look elsewhere.

I'm an autocrosser and track lapping enthusiast, but I've never dared used my NT-450s for competition. They're just not a high-performance tire.

All advertising promises aside, the NT-450 fits into a certain style of driving very well. It's great for someone with a semi-sporty or sport compact car who wants a tire that looks cool and lasts two or three years. It's fun for a backroads driving every once in a while, but if you go out and exercise your car's handling on a regular basis, you might be disappointed. It trades a good deal of lateral grip for wear life .

It's mud+snow rated, which many performance tires can't claim. I've driven it in winter, and they're fine all year round unless you live in the North. They're awful in the snow, but so is every other all-season tire. A lot of people just want to get a cheap "sporty" tire and not worry about them for another 30,000 miles down the road. These fit the bill.

I don't think it's as good or as bad as a lot of reviewers have said. They're all-right compromise of performance and all-season wear. There are much better performance tires...if you are willing to pay more.

Yokohama AVS Intermediate - The AVS-I is a full-on dry summer tire. Though it's an older design with a somewhat softer sidewall, its limits are echelons higher than the Nitto. The AVS-I's old-school, square treadblock design makes it louder on the highway, but dry grip is much better.

They last a long time, and look somewhat cool.

Weakness:

Lets see.. I *hate* these tires. I hydroplaned with them, slid around corners in the wet, even in the dry they didn't stick too well. When I turn traction control off (and the road is wet) they are extremely easy to spin.

I have had these tires for 45,000 miles now, and they still have tread life on them. However when it is raining, I am seriously afraid to drive my car. Even from the first day I got them I remember spinning out all over the place when it was raining outside. When I take corners and its dry, I can feel the tires loose their grip and boy do they make noise. I've also heard that they are noisey in general - I wouldn't really know, but people have told me that tire noise is a huge problem in my car.

Strength:

Good tread for driving in rain and excellent tread wear.

Weakness:

None

I purchased these 205/40/ZR17 tires with my new rims for only 118.00 each. Now two years and over 40,000 miles later and they still have plenty of tread left in them. Almost look new. Gone over a few very rough pot holes expecting bumps on the tires but never found any. Plus driving in the rain isn't a problem either. Cuts through very well. As long as you don't peal out as much they will last a very long time. Good choice!!!

Strength:

sticks to the road, much less slipping around fast tight corners. There is virtually no slipage upon takeoff.

Weakness:

none yet

This product seams so far to be a great performance tire. They stick to the road much better than my euro ta's and cost less.

BFG Euro TA. They are no where near as good at handeling than the nitto 450's.

Has great grip on cornering and take-off (accel.)

Weakness:

Haven't found any

I haven't found a tire that out performs the Nitto NT-450. In my opinion it is the best tire I've ever had. It holds the car in corners, doesn't spin easily, I have the 205/40/16 and it still gives a smooth ride. It's not bumpy or anything like that.

Strength:

quiet

Weakness:

bad tread life
poor handling

I was expecting these tires to perform. But they didn't. I know of 3 other people w/ the same tires and size (205/40/16) and all say the same thing. They handle bad in rain. They wear out FAST. Drove abt 50,000 kms or less and the tires are completely bald. Car was not lowered or anything. They dont come ANYWHERE close to Dunlop SP8000 in dry handling. All in all, I am not impressed with these tires.

Ride, handling, road noise, looks, price

Weakness:

NONE

I suffered through 2 sets of the original Michelins, which were noisy, rough-riding and handled poorly. On a friend's recommendation, I tried the Nittos and was amazed! These tires handle great, especially in the rain. They are far quieter than the Michelins were, and ride much better. The difference is night and day. Combine that with a more agressive look and better pricing and you've got a great deal. They also seem to be wearing better than the Michelins. I doubt that I will ever put anything else on this car.

Strength:

Very cheap price, takes a while before they actually start to burn. I could spin them for a while with little smoke. Somewhat better grip, better than the stock tires.

Weakness:

They weren't all that great in the rain. When I would push on the gas around a turn they would spin easily.

I bought the 195/50 15s and they were a great value, but they did not perform as well as expected. They look great, but suck in rain. These tires are good in straight lines and not so good with turns.

Strength:

So far the worse tire I've ever had. After a while (like around 10K miles), starts to produce really high noise level (almost can't hear conversation in the car), at low speed make some loud bad bearing-like noise. I heard a rumor that Nitto claimed to be made in Japan but no one ever heard about it in Japan itself???

The only good thing is it last what it promised (45,000 miles, who can stand the noise, though?) but after 25,000, I finally quit dealing with the noise and change to Dunlop SP 9000 (got a deal from Tire Rack for $71 a piece).

Weakness:

NOISE
Vibration

Stay away from this, wants bang for the buck, I pick Kumho instead. The newer revision of the Nittos might have some improvements, but who know? Once you buy tires, you have to stick with it for a while, and it's not worth the risk (at least for me).
