Strength:

Traction is hard to beat on both dry and wet pavement.
Great overall handling.
Improved steering response.

Weakness:

Snow, these tires hate being in snow and they will be the first to let you know how much.
No rim flange protection, if you had Toyo's before, watch those damn curbs.

Definately recommended (As long as you won't be doing much snow driving). Won't set you back too much price wise. Better (and cheaper) than the Toyo Proxes I had on my car previously (Toyo's wore down to nothing quickly) I paid 120 a tire, but average price seems to be 100-110. IF you are considering these, you will not be let down.

If you are looking for a Z rated tire and price is an issue, than this tire is a teriffic choice. It has excellent grip on dry and rainy surfaces. Its big sweeping tread expel water while leaving a huge contact patch which contributes greatly to its dry handling. I've found that these tires have greatly increased my confidence in driving a little closer to the "edge" in rainy weather. When pushed hard on dry pavement they hold up well with little squeel, and in my front-driver the pushing of the front end is less compared to the stock Goodyear Eagle RS/As. I up-sized to a 17 inch wheel and tires sized at 225/45. They are reasonably wuiet on the highway. In a smaller diameter they would be less noisy than they are. Tread wear is exceptional to the competition. I rotate every 3500 miles to compensate for the softer compund. With this in mind at the time of purchase i bought the unlimited balance and rotation for $40, and its going to more than pay for itself. Tires Plus offers this for all new tire purchases. A must for soft performance tires. They have built-in wheel flanges that protect your wheels; trust me they work! Also the wild tread pattern looks great!

Weakness:

THESE TIRES ARE TERRIBLE IN THE SNOW!!!!! I took a chance on these as an all-weather tire, and lost! They make getting around on snow and ice a dangerous chore! Just in case you decide to up-size like I did.....you will notice a big increase in wheel hop and much vibration when hitting pot-holes, etc.

Definately recommend this tire!!!

225/50/16 Goodyear Eagle RS/A......Haven't used any others but I shopped for 6 months before I bought and nothing could compare for $100 pre tire.
But I would also recommend looking into the--
BF Goodrich G-Force KDA(all-season)
Falken Tires, or Michellen and Pirelli if cost isn't a concern.

If you are considering Dunlop W-10's, SP Sport 4000's, Michelin Energy's, Pirelli 7000's, Yokohama's, forget about it. This tire will change the way you look at low pro tires altogether. Whoever said there is a compromise between performance and ride quality have not yet tried these tires. Wet traction is definetly superior to other performance tires metioned above and the tread wear is definetly at or above par with tires that have comparable spec's. Why do you think these tires are named HTRZ? Pronunciate it out loud: Haters! These tires put other low pro's to shame. Once again, the Japenese has put their heads together to come out with a superior product. Just like the NSX, its about balance, ingenuity, and built with the consumer in mind. Whatever they were aiming for with this tire; I have to say they exceded my expectations by 175%! When I balanced the tires, I noticed that the specifications for the tires are so stringent at the factory, that all four tires weighed exactly the same (at least

Weakness:

Not a track tire, but very close to it!! Although the tread is designed to give excellent grip in wet roads (Traction:AA), the engineers failed to realize that the water disperses from the front tires only so that the rear can run over the water again. Rear end hydro'd....my fault for going 80 in a storm, but at least my car and more importantly I survived. I will never try that again, however, now I have more trust in my tires than ever. If you have a close call with a wall, and skidded to a stop just in time, then you know what I mean.

~$115 USD at Tirerack.com. I tried to get it cheaper locally (I live in San Francisco), but even my friend at wholesale can't get these tires anywhere....At least not at that price. Altogether, with S&H came to about $470. When you compare tread wear (220), ride quality, traction (AA: Exceeds government standards for both wet and dry traction), and most importantly; price, then you will come to the conclusion that wasting money isn't always fun.

Had 5Zigen Div5, 16", 34 psi, rough ride, superior handling on DRY surface only, but wore out too quickly. After a while, I estimated every time I hit a right angle corner going about 43~45MPH, it killed about 3 bucks out of my pocket. These tires, matched to a good rim, 200 percent out performs my old Dunlops, regardless of the rim diameter. I am using higher PSI, have a lower rolling resistance, and yet with these HTRZ II, I get a smother and softer ride. Definetly IMPRESSED! I make alot of dumb choices in my life, but this was not one of them.

Quiet, great traction, wet or dry. Excellent ride quality. Super value.

Weakness:

None

Got 'em at Tirerack. less tha $600 including shipping. Used Tirerack recommended installer. Drop shipped tires to installer. Mounted, balanced and installed wheel weights on the inside of the rim. That cost another $100. Total investment under $700 for a Z rated tire, oh I also got one size larger (the max tire my stock 17" rims would hold 255x45x17). I like everything about these tires, they look cool too! The only problem is that my stock suspension is now the weak link in the car's handling. Time for some springs and skocks. The Sumo's are a very good investment. Everyone who rides with me has noticed the reduction in road noise, and the increase in stability afforted by these tires.
