Tokico Premium Performance Shocks Shocks

Tokico Premium Performance Shocks Shocks

DESCRIPTION

TOKICO Premium Performance shock absorbers (aka "Tokico Blues") have a number of features not found in other shock absorbers. These features allow TOKICO shock absorbers to provide a superior combination of handling, stability, and ride quality.

  • Piston Rod Guide with Teflon® coated bushing for minimal dynamic friction and good piston-rod life
  • Hardened, chrome-plated, and micro-polished piston-rod for long seal life and smooth operation
  • Twice drawn over mandrel pressure tube. Concentricity provides good sealing and minimal dynamic friction (drag)
  • The heart of Tokico's shock absorber is their unique piston design. Tokico's multi-stage variable aperture sandwich valve system with its precision plates and precise orifice control, allows a flexibility of damping control not found in other shocks.
  • Tokico shock oil is specially compounded for resistance to breakdown and minimal viscosity change regardless of temperature.

Strength:

Decent price, good OEM replacement

Weakness:

WAY too soft for use with performance springs

I have the Toks combined with Eibach ProKit springs. The car is lowered about 1.5 inches front and rear. In short, these shocks are NOT up to the task of damping performance springs. The ride is very bouncy and feels very nervous on rough or broken surfaces. While these shocks are firmer than OEM, they do not have nearly enough rebound damping to control stiffer springs. These would make a good replacement to use with OEM springs, but they are inadequate for performance use.

HANDLED CURVES WITH NO PROBLEMS. GLIDES OVER BUMPS. FEELS A WHOLE LOT BETTER THAN USING YOUR STOCK SHOCKS ESPECIALLY IF YOUR CAR IS LOWERED.

Weakness:

NO WEAKNESS JUST DAMN GOOD

I AM VERY WELL SATISFIED WITH THE TOKICO BLUE PERFORMANCE I AM USING GROUND CONTROL COILOVERS WITH MY SET UP AND MY RIDE IS A WHOLE LOT BETTER THAN THE STOCK SHOCKS.MY CAR SOARS OVER BUMPS LIKE IT AIN'T NOTHING AND CAN TAKE SHARP CURVES ALL DAY LONG WITH NO PROBLEM SO I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PEOPLE WITH 98-02 ACCORDS TO GO WITH TOKICO BLUE AND EIBACH GROUND CONTROL COILOVERS YOU WILL DEFINATELY ENJOY THE RIDE.

Strength:

Improve handling, lessen torque steer problem and car felt more stable at high speed (80+MPH).

Weakness:

Did not dramatically improve handling over stock setup. Ride can be quite bouncy on some road surfaces. Ugly blue color paint scheme on struts.

The Tockico Premium struts did help lessen the torque steer problem with the turbo charged Ford Probe GT. Handling improved a bit over stock setup. Ride quality is acceptable for daily commuting (I had Eibach Pro Kit spings with these struts).

Strength:

ride quality and responsiveness excellent compliance. They do the job right, keeping the tires on the pavement.

Weakness:

Sport Compact Idiots think a jarring overly firm ride means good handling

I have used these shocks in a mundane 86 ford taurus and a highly modified Z28. They give excelent control and ride quality. They are quite firm when traversing dips and rises and give increased responsiveness when entering a turn. They also are wonderfully compliant over sharp-edged or fast bumps giving a non jarring ride and keeping the tires in contact with pavement. When i added these to a stock taurus with goodyear eagles the car actually became fun to drive ( thats right a taurus fun to drive). In my Z28 with eibach springs they ride very well keeping the car conrolled when putting its 400 HP to the ground. They are very responsive and smooth compared to the Koni reds i had previously.

Strength:

Good if you dont want performance?.....so basically nothing...except they are cheap.

Weakness:

If your vehicle is lowered, everything.

Save your money and get some Koni adjustables. I''ve been using these for a while, right now my car is lowered about 2.5 inches sitting right above my 18" wheels. I''m using these with V-Spec coil-overs. The rear wheels dampin just fine but the front, where all the weight is, are horrible, if a dip in the road is comin up hold on to your seats, and on top of that the rebound and body roll are also poor. The only good application for these would be a replacement to stock shocks with no lowering whatsoever. These are NOT performance shocks.

Strength:

Fit really well. They are really cheap.

Weakness:

Floaty, Soft, Too much apparent stiffness.

I bought these shocks, along with Eibach Sportline springs and installed them all at the same time. These shocks are horrible for the EG Civic. It has horrible valving for my car. I spent a great deal of time trying to figure out if the Eibach springs were the cause of my horrible ride. Putting the stock springs back on confirmed that the Tokicos are badly designed for this car. They lean way too much and float like hell on the highway. I''m afraid to drive above 70mph with people in my car. To be fair, they handle S curves really well, but don''t feel safe at all. I''m saving to buy Bilsteins. I should''ve done that from the beginning.

need to replace every month

These things stink. I''ve had them 1 month, and both rears have already been replaced under warranty(thank god!!) I should have bought Bilstein''s, period. These are cheap, pony up the extra cash for Bilstein''s or Koni''s. I regret being cheap :-(
