Summary: good relatively cheap reliable car, purchased with 18k miles, engine is 3.1, have driven 70k sofar, I use Valvoline Syn oil and K&N air filter, other than oil&filters change, nothing has been done on the car
Strengths: excellent/quite cruiser, a lot of leg room, smooth transmission, 28 to 30 mpg on hwy, excellent view
Weaknesses: replaced some plastic parts, but not a big deal, driver seat(especially lower back hold) could be better

Summary: Overall not happy with this car. Purchased for real estate, traded in '94 Ford Escort. Really miss my Escort. Only have 42k miles on Lumina. Had in to dealer for clicking noise in front wheels 3 times. They gave me 3 different reasons for the noise, yet never fixed the issue. Engine is very loud. Brakes are horrible. Constant squeel in brakes, dry or wet. Trunk hinges are poorly designed - can't fit nearly as much in truck as it seems due to how low the hinges swing down.
On a more positive note, I feel very safe in the car. Most of the issues I have are with annoying noises, not so much performance. Car has nice get-up-and-go. I am fairly satisfied with the gas mileage I get for its size. Air conditioning really cools things down quick. Car is very roomy.
Strengths: Gives a very safe feeling. Good acceleration. Great air conditioning. Respectable gas mileage. Very roomy.
Weaknesses: Loud engine. Poor trunk hinge design. Poor brakes/braking distance.

Summary: I give this car a rating of 2 because I've had nothing but problems with this car. I've owned this car for two months and it's been in the shop three times and has been a big hassle. I just had the pistons replaced at 30,000 miles and the engine still rattles.
Strengths: Roomy for passengers and myself
Weaknesses: loud enigine, bad suspension(front) brakes didn't impress me
Similar Products Used: Nissan Maxima: I wish I still had the Nissan rather then this Chevy

Year / Model Reviewed: 1999 Lumina
Summary: This car is unsafe at any speed over 20 mph. It is a chore to keep it between the lines on an expressway. There is way too much torque steering. The driver's seating is uncomfortable for anyone over 6' tall and is too low. The car developed a creaking sound in the front suspension at 2000 miles. The fuel economy has only been about 17 mpg. No one should buy this car; General Motors should pay people to drive it. 1 Star is unfortunately the lowest rating - this car is a minus 5!
Strengths: Corporate lease car that will be replaced soon

Summary: I am very happy with the car that I bought. Overall, it picks up speed nicely, and the soft suspension ride makes for a comfortable ride. The car handles very well, with some floating. It is deceptively quick.
Strengths: Handles well in poor weather, good cornering, perfect for long trips, a lot of headroom (room in general), spacious trunk, quick-acting & powerful climate controls.
Weaknesses: Brakes: I was surprised to find that I preferred the brakes of my clunky ''92 Taurus to Lumina''s ABS. Lumina''s brakes are weaker (long stopping distance), lack feel, generate a lot of brake dust & noise. Seats should be a lot firmer and have better ergonomics. As I recently found out, parts & maitenance can be very expensive even when a car is D/C d.
Similar Products Used: Two 1992 Tauruses (don''t even ask why) - either is trash compared to this car (brakes nothwithstanding). Taurus has a poorer ride, less power and convenient options, service record (one can go on ad n
