from E-Auto Planet Year / Model Reviewed: 2004 Dodge Intrepid SE Summary: I haven't had this very long but I did my research on this vehicle. I was going to buy the Sebring until I saw that my Intrepid was only $1,000 more. Everything about this car was just right for me- nice size which could seat 5 people, the controls (air, stereo, seats) were simple yet ergonomic, and the handling is very nice for such a large sedan. The stock stereo produces a very rich sound and the aerodynamics of the vehicle along with the compartment seals keep the road noise down to a minimum. Seats are very comfortable and the trunk is large enough to pack for long vacations. I've read a lot of negative things concerning the Dodge Intrepids but I've been told by friends who work at Dodge dealerships that most problems they have had with the Intrepids were from people *NOT* keeping up with the oil maintenance. Change your oil regularly is what everyone has told me and most of the "bad" reviews seem to be around the 2000-2002 years. The Dodge mechanic I talked to also told me models before 2002 had a few lemons. I bought this at a stellar price and I'm happy with it. Strengths: Size, comfort, handling, sound system (stock), trunk size, looks sporty, nice acceleration. Weaknesses: cup holders, blind spots (fixed with attachable blind spot mirror), rear view when backing up. Similar Products Used: None. I was previously a Nissan, Isuzu, Ford, and Honda owner.
