Review 2 of 9

Price Paid:  $14500.00 from Fred Martin

Year / Model Reviewed:
2005 Suzuki Verona S

Summary:
From other web review sites this car can go either way: no problems or problematic. Mine is very problematic. The engine light constantly lights up after ECM reprogram, ECM replacement, O2 sensor replacement, MAP sensor replacement, etc. Things are NOT looking any more rosy since Suzuki dumped the whole Verona line.

Strengths:
Suspension

Weaknesses:
Problematic engine components

Review 5 of 9

Price Paid:  $17200.00 from Wright Suzuki Carneg

Year / Model Reviewed:
2004 Verona S

Summary:
Terrific Value.... I chose this Car after a god deal of research. After enjoying a Nissan Maxima 1993, it was time to buy a new car. Armed with a limited budget, I looked at 2 year old Camry and Accord. I test drove them and found a lot of problems. New Accord that was fully loaded cost much more. I test drove and found a very good option in Verona. Now the car has 1800 miles. Here is how it performs. 1. Engine: Verona has a 2.5 L Inline. The Engine produces a max Hp of 155. This seems less than some 4 cylinders made by Toyota and Honda. But the Car's 177 Nm Torque pulls the car well over hills and slopes. The 155 HP perhaps results in slighly slower acceleration than other similar cars. This however does not pose a serious problem in accessing interstates on ramps or passing. The Inline engine is very smooth and works quite silently with some noise when the pedal is pushed far. On city roads the Car runs smooth as silk.Buyers should know that Verona takes 7 QUARTS of OIL!!! It gives a decent 20 mpG on city roads and 26 MPG on highway. I do wish Suzuki improves the mileage for the 155HP it gives. Handling: The Car feels solid and the speed sensitive steering needs getting used to. After some use you can feel the Car hugging the road, although there is some bank and roll on turns. This is however not uncomfortable. The Brakes feel solid and all Veronas are equipped with 4 disc brakes. The suspension is in between a soft sprung and sport. Long interstate travel is comfortable. The seats are quite comfortable...I dont have leather on the S model. I dont mind the upholstery although many dont like the plush "mousy" feel. Transmission: Verona S is equipped with 4 speed auto. The Trans is based on adaptive computer controls. Believe me ..don't base your opinion solely on a test ride!!. Its 1800 miles now and the trans. is better adjusted to my style of driving and my driving patterns. The shift movement is hardly felt and the trans is fine. I wish they would have a 5 speed auto. Features: The Verona really attracts on the fact that many features seen in luxury cars are standard!!!. The S comes with Power everything , CD cruise and the works. It does not have ABS or Traction control. These are in the EX models I think. The Top models afford leather heated seats and automatic climate control...You can't get another car with these features at the price. Space: Very spacious especially for the rear passenger. I am short --5'6" so there is no problem on headroom. I think very tall guys should check this out on the test ride. Trunk space is good although I find the reduced rear inside space a design problem. Warantee: Suzuki gives 7 yr-100000 miles on trans. 3 yr -36000 on other parts. Lights and electricals: I like the front lights that are latest in design with the double staggered arrangement. The CD and Radio are fine although the initial cars has some problems of electrical noise and had recall notices that I think were attended promptly. Crash Tests: See the IIHS web site for details. The Car does not have side curtain facility and was rated accordingly. Overall: I like the Car very much and find it performing well for going places and work. This is no sports car but fits well into the category of a family car. It is spacious and graceful. I think you should test ride the check out Verona if you are looking for a mid size sedan.

Strengths:
Elegant Looks, Most features standard, smooth inline engine

Weaknesses:
Heavier Car, slighly slower acceleration, Unknown resale value.
