The Yukon is basically the same as a Chevy Tahoe using the same 5.7-liter pushhrod 16-valve V-8 with 255 hp and 4-speed automatic transmission. It comes with 2 wheel or 2 types of 4 wheel drive. The only difference is that the Yukon is only available in a 5 door model.

Year / Model Reviewed: 2007 GMC Yukon - SLT-2 trim
Summary: The 07 Yukon comes in various trims. The more expensive the trim, the more options are standard. However, even the Yukon Denali has options you can add. So, a 07 Yukon can cost from $38,000 to well over $52,000 depending on trim and options. If you have kids and need more cargo space, then get the XL which is almost 1 foot longer.
I traded in my 06 Envoy Denali for the 07 Yukon with the SLT-2 trim. The envoy was nice, but I needed more cargo space and this works out well for my needs. The Yukon ride is smoother and quieter than the Envoy. My Yukon came with second row captain seats and third row bench seat. Therefore, it seats 7. But, depending on what type seats you want, it will seat from 6 to 8. I need the cargo space so I removed the third row seat and ordered a cargo mat that fits perfectly and solves the problem of the seat rails showing and the mat makes the cargo area flat. As for gas mileage, I get an overall average of 15.5 mpg. My Yukon is rated at 21 hwy because of the optional rear gear ration axle. So, at times I have been able to get slightly over 21 mpg highway but most of the time it runs around 18 mpg. FYI, the Denali has a much bigger engine and only rated at 19 mpg highway.
My Yukon has most of the options, at least the options I want. One of the best is park assist. It is very difficult judging distance when backing up. And sometimes you can not see anything if the object is too low. The park assist, or rear camera on some models, does a great job by warning you when you are too close to objects. It will start warning you at 8 feet with one of 3 lights in the rear cabin. Then if you get within 1 foot, all 3 lights will come on and it will beep at you. This is a must-have safety feature. The Bose sound system that plays MP3 is great. I also have navigation, sunroof, power rear liftgate, remote start, heated windshield washer fluid, tire pressure monitor, DVD entertainment and power folding rearview side mirrors.
I would suggest that before buying any vehicle, you do your research. Go to gmc.com and check out all the trims, options and prices. Then try to find a dealer that has a large variety to see all the options and colors in person. I did all that, plus I went to kbb.com to see what my trade in was worth. I went armed with information and got what I wanted at a very good price. I am very happy with this SUV and would highly recommend it.
Strengths: Lots of options, quite and smooth ride, great styling
Weaknesses: none
Similar Products Used: Envoy Denali

Summary: two months after purchasing car, there was a grinding/shaking when taking a right turn when merging or leaving a roadway. taking it to dealership they had trouble replicating it so we had to show them. they admitted there was a problem but called the next day to say it was normal when using the tc (traction control) and not to use it. that there was no damage being done to the vehicle. the brakes have slowly become "soft" over time and they say this is normal abs operation. i asked for this in writing from the dealership who told us that they replicated the same problem in a brand new 2004 off the lot and that we could drive it to compare.
Strengths: nice features, we bought it fully loaded.
Weaknesses: poor service dept.; poor gm contact
Similar Products Used: none, and trust me in the future i will stick to toyota for my vehicles. how sad the domestic business has become that their service/products have become unreliable.

Year / Model Reviewed: 2003 GMC Yukon 4x4
Summary: Ipurchased this Yukon on July 31,2003 and within the first month the battery died.
This SUV is not driven everday so I assumed the battery was defective. The dealer installed another battery for me and again in a few days it was dead.
This has been an ongoing problem with this being the sixth or seventh trip to the dealer for repairs with a total of over sixty days at the dealer. It is at the dealer now on its 32 consective day at this writing.
The dealer has done everything he could to rectify the problem with no sucess so I contacted GMC customer service for help in getting my Yukon repaired, still no repair.
I have taken other avenues now to get my problem resolved but running into a lot of resistance from GMC.
Strengths: great riding and handling
Weaknesses: Haven't driven it enough to determine, only put a little over 2600 miles on it.
Similar Products Used: I have two other GMC products,a 4x4 pickup with 214000 miles on it,great truck and a Jimmy with 179000 miles on it .

Year / Model Reviewed: 2003 Yukon XL w/17000mi.
Summary: One of the most beautiful vehicles in its "SUV" class. It doesn't take much to make this vehicle look good. Lots of little things wrong with the vehicle right off the showroom floor. Folding rear seat cables not attatched, broken latches, blown stereo speakers, loose bolts and a slipping bump-n-grind kinda thing going on with the transmission. Don't expect to get much help from GM or your local Goodwrench Dude if you experience much more than let's say, low tire pressure perhaps or a bum wiper blade arm. The people that you would expect should back thier products up simply don't seem to give a rip if they've sold you a lifetime of problems or not. All the little problems thank goodness seemed to evaporate away. Still having problems with backing out of the driveway in the morning, putting it in drive and not going anywhere. Rio Rancho GMC says it's just a quirk that is common with the 4180E transmission and there is nothing they can do. The embarrassment of seven of your passengers yelling in unison, " What was that noise?" or "Are we gonna make it?" is hard to deal with knowing that GM is laughing all the way to the bank.
Strengths: Good looks. Great for our family of 5 with plenty of extra room. Powerful 8.1 liter engine.
Weaknesses: GMC Customer Support.
GMC Customer Service.
GMC Service department.
Transmission problems all the way. The engine sounds a little rattley upon startup and warmup, lifters I suppose.
Similar Products Used: None.

Summary: Great ride, 5.3L pulls our 21' Sea Ray From Sac. to Tahoe like it's not there. All we've ever owned are trucks and SUV's and this is probley the best ever.
Strengths: Lots of power, lots of room,(rear bucket seats are more confertable then the front) Great drive, Great Bose sound system, (one of these days I'am going to find that little guy behind the dash that keeps wanting to help me). And it Looks good too!!
Weaknesses: It's been in the shop for a totle of 17 days to find a leak in the roof. They rulled out the sun roof. They can't duplacate the conditions when it leaks. water has been collecting in the overhead consol for the rear HAVAC controls. It spills out when going around tight turns. Thats the only problem weve had..
