Review 1 of 22

Price Paid:  $28000.00 from Bob Dance, orlando

Year / Model Reviewed:
2006 Isuzu/Ascender

Summary:
I have previously owned other Isuzu SUV's and this is no different. They are great and I recommend highly. I've owned Rodeo, Trooper, and Axiom as well and never had repair once. I am either very lucky or these are really good vehicles. I think the latter is true.

Strengths:
Quiet, ice cold air, fuel efficient, no rattles, smooth handling

Weaknesses:
not very many

Year / Model Reviewed:
2006 Isuzu Ascender

Summary:
I love the ascender it's a great SUV. I traded my rodeo and I was so pleased. It's stylish, comfortable and those guys over @ Pohanka were wonderful. I've been a proud Isuzu driver for the last 5 yrs and I wouldn't change it for anything.

Strengths:
Comfortable, great sounds, plenty cargo space.

Weaknesses:
The steering wheel does not lock.

Review 3 of 22

Price Paid:  $23500.00 from Bill Gatton Chev Cad

Year / Model Reviewed:
2005 Ascender 5 pass. 4x4

Summary:
Have owned a 2005 Trailblazer EXT LT 4x4 for 8 months, and entered the market for a second vehicle. Having been very pleased with the 7-passenger Trailblazer, we first considered a 5-passenger Trailblazer LS 4x4. The LS Trailblazer seemed like a compromise vehicle, with very few extras to get excited about...Then we discovered the Ascenders on the other side of the lot. With two-tone paint, 17" wheels, driving lights, and an interior straight from the upscale GMC Envoy, the Ascender just looked more expensive inside and out. Then we learned of the Isuzu warranty, and the tremendous price advantage that the Ascender enjoys over all other GM-built SUVs. The decision was an easy one and one we haven't regretted. This vehicle is ideal in so many ways. We have owned Grand Cherokees (3), Tahoes (3), Suburbans (3), and the Trailblazer. Both the Trailblazer and the Ascender are superior to the others in ride comfort, power, and convenience. The Ascender, however, is also a rare bargain among new vehicles.

Strengths:
ride comfort, power, convenience, styling, and deluxe features and finish.

Weaknesses:
should have standard outside temp feature.

Review 4 of 22

Price Paid:  $31000.00 from Century Isuzu

Year / Model Reviewed:
2004 Isuzu Ascender

Summary:
Bought this vehicle brand new and it has been in the shop three times. All problems were solved by replacing the ignition switch. One problem was related to the transmission not shifting into fifth gear and when the ignition switch was replaced, all gears returned. Thinking of trading this vehicle soon.

Strengths:
Lots of room and power

Weaknesses:
unreliable

Similar Products Used:
Isuzu Hombre

Review 5 of 22

Price Paid:  $23500.00 from Devoe Isuzu

Year / Model Reviewed:
2004 Isuzu Ascender

Summary:
As a previous Isuzu owner, I was excited to purchase the 7 seater Ascender. That is where all happiness ends. My Rodeo was a dream. This Ascender has been a nightmare. From the dealer not putting oil in the engine when I had an oil change to the check engine light always being on, I have sunk a ton of money into this vehicle and it has been the cause of the last several arguments with my husband. At this point, I wish it would be struck by lightening.

Strengths:
Passenger/cargo space

Weaknesses:
Everything

Similar Products Used:
Like I said, the 1997 Rodeo I had was awesome. Too bad the Ascender could not live up to its potential.
