Strength:

great specs. true to ES name.

Weakness:

Size.

This is a very clean/transparent amp. I am a SQ competitor and have been using 2 of these amps for the past 2.5 years. I absolutely love them. See the install at www.newsoundcaraudio.com.

Strength:

very high current provides clear "loud" transients.set up right it will more than exceed your expectations.

Weakness:

it is rather large but i would rather make room for good audio over a passenger.runs warm

ive spent more money than i care to mention on home audio , its an addiction as well as car audio. and after thousands and thousands of dollars i get better sound from a 300 dollar amp in my truck, ran in two channel to a pair of es 6x9"s listening to lenny kravitz "i belong to you " there is a percussion instrument used similiar to striking wood . its a sharp sound heard sedatley on $3000 martin logan aeon home speakers driven by conrad johnson electronics. but is much more than that in my truck '' its so sharp and loud its ear peircing. clear as hell .only strong current reserve power could drive a speaker so hard at moderate levels in fact the speakers didnt survive the rest of the song. and have been replaced by 2 pair in parralel to handle the power, forget running four channels. bridge the amp and buy good speakers to handle the 150rms the peak power will fry 200w speakers

Strength:

incredible sound, very clean. stable to 0.5 ohms! plenty of power. looks great

Weakness:

big and runs a little warm

This is a great amp. it looks good, sounds good and pumps out plenty of power, runs a little warm but i haven''t had any problems with it at all. i have a pair of infinity kappa components in my doors and it powers them wonderfully and it gives my 10" sony xs-l1055g sub good power as well. can''t say enough good things about this amp.

Strength:

powerful, excellent quality

Weakness:

big, no fan

Absolutely no regrets buying this amp. A cooling fan would have been nice, gets a little hot but has never shut off. Let me know one of my speaker wires was grounded to the speaker frame with the offset protection light (doh!).

Strength:

Musicality, clean,Lightning fast transients(packs alot punch),Ultra tight and crisp sounding. I not a spl freak, no offense. I am a sound quality freak. This is by far the best sounding amp I owned, hands down. OOh, the sounds coming from this amp, is oh Sooooooo Sweeeeeeeet. The amp is also atractive. I was surprise to find out the amp is made in Japan (High Quality). Dual power supplies, 0.5ohm stable. No installation related noise

Weakness:

Very Big and Bulky, can be a good thing if you like big amps. The X-overy setting are not mark. No balanced inputs, can only accept upto 4v input.Very underated amp, interms of quality!

I can't explain how incredible the sound quality is.You just have to go hear for your self.Puts most namebrand amps to shame, interms of sound quality. If your into pure sound quality this amp is for you.I can't say enough about this amp. If you can get your hands on one get, cause Sony doesnt put nearly the same quality into the 2001 ES series. The new ones are also butt ugly.

Strength:

Very clean, very versatile, seperate power supplies for front & rear channels, has almost all the features you could ever need.

Weakness:

Brand reputation, no option for remote gain control, BIG!!

I've had this amp for about a week now & I've spend a lot of time listening to it already in the car. The amp sounds very clean & transparent. These are very underrated amps in terms of reputation & I've yet to see any bad reviews on them. They are very well engineered & produce a lot of power. People who have tried them usually walk away surprised. The most frequently used description I heard about these amps were that they are very clean sounding & so far, that has proved to be a very accurate description.

PPI, Soundstream. The Sony is as clean if not cleaner than the PPI & Soundstream. I actually found it to sound better than my PPI PC4400, not because of more power but the Sony had a lower noise floor & sounds a little warmer & less hissy. Sounds as articulate & detailled as the Soundstream.

Strength:

Good power. Great clean sound. Size. Its all for show.

Weakness:

No cooling fan. Size. two much power (some cases) I am on my third set of speakers. Hard to mount.

I bought this amp brand new on close out. I put it in my car hooked up to one Sony ES XS-L1260G 12" sub and a pair of Cerwin Vega 6x9's. Yeah the size is awsome, but it is a problem mounting it but its worth it in the end. I love it. but I wish I had the 5 Ch. one. It goes plenty loud and is very cool.

It doesnt compare to any thing but the XM-2000R.
