Strength:

This car is great, can't be beat for it's combination of luxury, performance and value.

Weakness:

It would be nice to have memory seats and foglights.

I do a lot of research before I buy a car, there was no other car that would measure up to the Acura. Both the BMW and the Lexus were more money than the Acura, and you had to add a lot of options on the competition, the leather interior was optional on both the Lexus and BMW. The Lexus was very nice, very luxurious, the BMW is good for performance, but has a "cheap" looking interior, for $35,000 no less! When you look at the total package, the Acura 3.2TL was head and shoulders above the competition.

I looked at BMW 325, Lexus ES300, and the Infinity I30.

Strength:

Sleek looks, powerful engine, smooth transmission, very good handling, good brakes, nice interior with luxury touches of almost every kind, terrific navigation system (the only option!)

Weakness:

Have not found any yet. Oh yeah, FM reception at distances is only mediocre. Sound quaulity of audio system is good but not great.

This car is the quality product for the best price in today's auto market. Proof is in the marketplace. This car is in hot demand, and the dealers know it. It is almost impossible to buy except at straight sticker. This when almost everything else is dioscounted, even Lexus. Brokers and buyer services won't respond to inquiries for the TL because they cannot get a break on the price. Even so, it is the bargain and value for the dollar of any luxury offering. Makes MBenz, BMW, Audi, and Volvo look sick. If you want to spend $4-5000 more for a Lexus, yopu can buy almost as good a car.

Strength:

Quality of fit and finish, no rattles, smooth ride, large number of useful amenities.

Weakness:

Lacks the sporty feel that my Maxima SE had, even after installation of Toyo Proxies, 225-55-16, V rated tires.

I think that this vehicle offers high value for the money, especially if you can negotiate a deal well below the sticker price. I have read of quality control and dealer problems on other web sites. I have not seen either. I do not know if others had bad luck or expected more for what they paid. Bottom line, go to a dealer with a good reputation, be a knowledgable consumer and check the vehicle out well prior to accepting delivery. Needless to say, this advice applies to any purchase of this amount.

Strength:

I love the quickness of the car, the interior space, the sequential shifter, and the stero system.

Weakness:

Things that need improvements are: no fog lights, poor gas mileage, weak/soft handling, noisy tires.

With the improvemnts of the 2000 model, I would definitely pick this car over the A4 and the ES because this is a better bargin.

A4 and the 2,8 Quattro lacks power and to get the same options that the TL has, you would have to pay at least another couple thousand dollars.

The ES300 is a very reliable car and also a very good bargin, but why get a car that is going to change it's style in the near future, then get a new look, with the new technologies.

Strength:

Powerful engine, options and amenities, xenon headlights, smooth ride due to fabulous suspension, all "options" (excl. navigation) are standard equipment, great value.

Weakness:

Quality issues (see bottom), transmission pretty iffy, stiff seats, no memory seats, sport shift a nuisance, poor radio reception.

I almost think I got a lemon from the factory. Ever since buying it brand new in 2/99, problems with the car just keep popping up. The list: fuel gauge didn't go to full even after filling up, rattling noise in moonroof area, driver side power seat unreliable, small body moulding started to deteriorate. Most of these problems have since been corrected by the dealer, but they should never have occured in the first place seeing as how this was a brand new car, and an Acura nonetheless. I got a great deal from the dealer, which partially makes up for the inconveniences. I would not buy this car again if given the option. I'd go for the Lexus ES300, which I find to be a much more solid car, both aesthetically and performance-wise.

Strength:

Smooth acceleration, powerful, have all the major luxury items, spacious and provides good handling

Weakness:

Doesn't have memory seats... despite it has all other major luxury items.. There is also no auto on headlamps, which are in the Cadillacs

I would strongly recommend this car if you are looking for a luxury sedan.

Similar Products Used:

Cadillac catera, Infiniti I30, Lexus ES300, BMW328. The Acura 3.2TL offers more standard items than anyone of the above cars and at a lower price tag. In terms of refinement, it is comparable to ES300. In terms of Gas Pedal, BMW328 gives a better feel, but full of cheap plastic. Infiniti I30 is not as refined as the 3.2TL

Strength:

Ebony interior is really sharp. Buy the burl wood shift nob. Conservative exterior will grow on you and will not look dated in a couple of years. Stereo is very good (i've heard complaints about the stereo on the internet, but found it to be very capable). Smooth, fast engine. Sport shift.

Weakness:

No memory seats, fog lights.

Received $1,100 discount plus muds and mats. They are starting to deal more now that the CL is scheduled to arrive in the next couple of months.

This car is very comfortable and fun to drive. Every option (other than memory seats) is included. Sport shift is enjoyable. You can't beat the price. Every other equivalent car is at least $4,000 more and is either slower or not as big as the TL.

This car is an excellent compromise for those that like a manual transmission but enjoy the convenience of an automatic. A nice combination of luxury and sportiness.

Strength:

Finishing 3 year lease. Car never saw the shop other than routine maintenance and oil changes, etc. Great reliability and Honda quality. Smooth power, nice shifts. Fuel economy and sound system so-so.

Weakness:

This car had minor foibles which drove me nuts (useless dead pedal, no automatic-on headlights, no trunk opener on key fob, no wind deflector on the sunroof, no alarm chirp to tell you car alarm was armed, etc.) All of these seem to have been fixed for the 2000 model. The seats, however, are still too firm. Paint very susceptible to scratches.

A much better car now than my 97. If you want a reliable 5 passenger car that is a little on the sporty side, you'll like the 3.2 TL.

Strength:

Looks, Honda quality, value

Weakness:

cheesey fake wood interior

For the money this is a nice entry-level luxury car, nice smooth ride. However, not as sporty as a BMW 3 series or Audi A4. The fake wood is bad, Acura executives take a look at the A4 1.8T with their graphite interior, much better.
