Strength:
Engine is quite and plenty of power. Good handing and pretty good sound system. Great car for the money.
Weakness:
Could improve on the styling, but still a good looking car. A little wind noise from the side view mirror. I have owned the car for three years and 54K. It's a great car to drive. The 225 HP engine really makes it move. The car is very tight after driving it over our local pot holes. Best car I've owned. I feel great everytime I drive it. The car has had only a brake sensor problem and a minor moon roof noise that was taken care of under the warranty Similar Products Used: Lincoln Towncar, Toyota Camray. Misc. Fords and GM cars. |

Bang for your buck extras.
Weakness:
Ride could use stiffer suspension. 17" would make it look good too, should have gotten the type-s. I purchased this 99 TL at a dealer's auction. So far so good. drives like a dream. Couldn't have gotten a better price, obviously. Similar Products Used: Prelude, maxima, accord |

Strength:
Engine is by far the best feature. I looked at my NSX's engine and the TL's and they are VERY similar (3.2L DOHC VTEC, etc.) Bose stereo is good enough for anyone who is not an audiophile.
Weakness:
Handling, cheap leather, some interior parts are obviously the same as in my '97 Accord. 2 years, 25K miles only problem was front seat airbag sensor went out; was replaced by dealer with no problem. I've read some other reviews but I haven't had any brake or transmission problems at all. I had a 2000 BMW 3-series---too much $$ for too little HP---BUT the interior of the BMW was much better. Can't complain about the Acura though...I'd rather have the HP than nicer leather and better plastic. However, this is NOT a very good handling car on twisties...its not designed to out corner a BMW or Infiniti. All in all a great sedan for the money. Similar Products Used: 2000 BMW 3-Series |

Fun to drive great pickup for a moderately priced car looks great
Weakness:
Transmission Brakes cheap woodgrain interior Paint Chips Expected morefrom Honda/Acura I thought this was a highly dependable car until the tranny blew at 30K miles. I have a family member who has had major brake problems with their TL. I enjoy driving this car but expect way more for a "luxury" car. Every time I get in it I wonder about the tranny, since it downshifts hard now. I will still give the car a shot to see how it does, but I am disappointed as I expected to drive this car 200K miles as many other people I know have done with their Acuras and Hondas (I should have kept my '96 Accord with 115K miles!) comfortable ride, more than adequate sound system, cant ask for more for the money.
Weakness:
Havent found em yet Just turned in a 1999 3.2 TL and got a new 2003 3.2 TL. Have put just over 800 miles on it and it is a different car than the '99. Engine seems smoother, ride seems tighter and the 5 speed tranny cranks out just about 2K rpm at 70. Very comfortable and so far very pleased. Looked at 2004 Maxima, wanted close to $500 a month for a lease. I can get a BMW or Mercedes for that. Acura fit and finish is better than Maxima. good braking, comfortable car,
Weakness:
michelin sidewalls replaced twice, transmission replaced twice, rotors replaced or resurfaced 6 times within 45000 miles, cars stalls when coming to a complete stop, radio replaced, HP is nothing without torque, I think Honda is lying about the torque #s, lots of chipping and scratches on poor paint, That black fake wood in the interior has to go. Michelin sidewalls were too weak Similar Products Used: 98 TL, made in Japan great car. 91 Maxima Lemon |
